I was very much like you, before my mom passed away I started my period and I never had so much as a cramp. Then about 2 months after she passed it was like I hit a brick wall. The pain was so bad I thought I was dying. :( I never had heavy bleeding until I had my first Lap. There are days I feel that being diagnosed wasnt worth it. Both surgeries made me so much worse.

Hello! I am new here! I had been on the pill for so long that my periods stopped for 8 years. I decided to go off the pill and my period came back regularly with minimal pain and problems for about 3 years. Then I started experiencing frequent spotting and longer heavier periods. I have had 2 laporoscopic surgeries that did nothing except relieve some pressure on my bladder. Last night, I could not drive home from work the pain was so bad it shot down my legs. My mom had to drive me home. I could barely wrap presents. My husband wanted to take me to the ER which I have been to numerous times but I didn't want to sit there all night waiting just to get sent home as having "unknown abdominal pain". I hate that this is ruining my Christmas. This is the first year I have a new house and wonderful job and want to enjoy my life right now because it is just perfect and this endometriosis has crept in to make me feel horrible, physically and emotionally. When will it end?

AshleyNicole, what a relief it is that Im not the only one. I remember telling a doctor that the pain appeared almost out of nowhere and he looked at me like he didn't believe me.
JennyRabbit, have you found a good doctor yet?

My doc is supposed to be one of the best, but because I am only 39 he is hesitant about hysterectomy. He just wants me to go on the pill again which makes me psycho. I want other tests done too. I will see him on Friday and if I am not satisfied this time I am moving on.

I stared having pelvic pain once I became sexually active. It was not during sex, but after. And it was not all the time.
Then I started having pain monthly, but during ovulation, not so much on my period. It just started lasting longer and getting worse.
I'm not sure this helps you. I think my case might be different then most. I think that's why it took so darn long to be CORRECTLY diagnoses.

Tina you sound exactly like me but I have yet to be officially diagnosed, got my lap in Feb.

I had cramps since my first period, at 13, though they got progressively worse as the years went on. About two years ago is when the pain began coming when I wasn't having my period, and that's when I really knew something was wrong. I get a good bit of the pain is now centered on my left side, and that started rather suddenly about 1.5 years ago.

For me, the heavy periods were never a problem until one month, bam! Then it was Niagara Falls until I had my lap surgery, which has significantly decreased blood loss.

I usually am only pain free maybe a week during the month. Im in quite a bit of pain right now, I am pretty sure Im ovulating. Been trying to get pregnant for 7 months & nothing. Doctor is going to send me to another doc in January to see whats preventing it. I know we havent been trying long, I just am worried bc 2 1/2 yrs ago my doc told me if i wanted to have anymore kids (we have 1) i should start trying. I feel I may have waited too long. Jenny, my old doctor was hesitant to give me the laporoscopic surgery (altho he said if the bc didnt work I would need it) bc I was so young. I just turned 25. :( I am in so much pain i really just want to have another & get everything taken out. I just worry about goin nuts after bc of the hormones & stuff. My periods are aweful, I just have to stay in the house now they have gotten so bad bc I bleed so heavy I have to wear tampons & pads at the same time & wear tampons to bed & get up in the middle of the night to change them or i ruin my sheets. My husband doesnt understand so its hard to talk to him or get support from him.

i started my period at 10 and i remember having horrible cramps the first night. i was excited to have them because i thought i was growing up and it was "normal" according to my mom and aunts. after four years it became progressivly worse to where i had to drop out of high school and go into homeschool. i have never had heavy bleeding just the pain

thanks guys, its interesting to hear other stories (similar to mine and otherwise)...the way that my doctor looked at me you'd think i am the only person in the world that had that experience. i dont see him anymore of course but he looked at me like i was lying
