When is your appointment to get results? If it's anything bad I've always been told they would contact you ASAP and get you in right then. If you're that much of a mess over it call the office and explain. They might get you in sooner.

No the problem is that he sent the things he took out of me to get labs done and there isn't endo on the things he removed. My appointment was today and that's what he said but my previous doctor said I do have endo and I had three other surgeries with him. But now I might be going back to square one. Starting this horrid process all over again.

I'm so sorry! That is awful! He doesn't think it was ever endo?

Do you have your surgical reports and pathology for your first three surgeries? If not I would try to track them down to find out if you were ever confirmed with endo via pathology.

However, know that just because the material sampled didn't come back with endometriosis does not necessarily mean you don't or didn't ever have endo! Endo is notoriously difficult to recognize and consequently can be hard to biopsy. It could also be your last doctor got most if not all of it, that too would explain why none showed up.

You should of course talk to your doctor about what exactly was removed, but with three previous surgeries I am guess a lot of it was scar tissue and adhesions (which can be due to many things including previous surgeries or endo) in which case I wouldn't worry about it too much and it might still help you feel better as adhesions can be quite painful.

Endo is the muscle - this sounds like perhaps adenomyosis if he was talking about in your uterus?

He's right, it can be in muscles of your abdomen which can't be seen. If it's in the muscle layers of your uterus it's a different condition known as adenomyosis. as the other girls have said just because the biopsies didn't show endo doesn't mean you don't have it...or that you never did. If your other Dr removed some then you indeed had endo. It can also be so microscopic it can't be detected even in the laparoscopy.

None of my biopsies came back as endo, but all the doctors who have seen my surgery pics say it was clearly endo. I guess it can be hard to biopsy and what they send to the labs are only a sample of what they remove (I believe). I was alarmed when I first heard my biopsy results, but I think it is more common than you think. No doctor ever questioned whether or not I had endo based on my biopsy results.

He supposedly said that my abdomen looked fine but he gave me a video of the surgery and I compared them to my previous surgeries and it is much worse now.... My previous doctor didn't have any pathology reports which is weird right? I might post some still shots of the video and see what some of you think. Because it looked like it had gotten much worse. I think I may need a second opinion. I'm so confused if it's not endo.because for a year before I was diagnoses I was going to the doctor every two weeks getting ultrasounds bloodwork MRIs. So I'm freaking out. Because if it's not this idk how to handle it.

Can you go back to your other doc? Don't worry. Just because he ciuld not see endo does not mean it isnt there. Also it could be a lot of other things. I found out I had cysts clogging both of my fallopian tubes, but that never showed up on any ultra sound. They only found it after my hyster and sending my tubes for pathology. It could also be scar tissue. It could also be that this doctor doesnt know what it looks like unless it is overly obvious. It could be inside your ovaries or uterus. So dont put the cart before the horse just yet. If you know something is wrong then keep pushing until you have answers.

Is your current doc a specialist in endo? If not - get another opinion. The other ladies are right, it can be very difficult to diagnose and it might help getting a specialist and a second opinion. Hang in there.

Someone mentioned adenomyosis. It can mimic the pain of endo but not be seen until the uterus is removed. Why don't you call your doctor back just to clarify?

Well I just moved across state and I'm having a hard time finding a really good specialist obviously. But I have a video and and I think It would be very beneficial to see another doctor. It just frustrating. And as for the adenomyisis he said it was a possibility It was that but he wasn't positive. So I'm just waiting patiently to try and get this resolved.

So sorry you are going through this....It can be Adenomyosis, which can be determined during a lap. I went in for a lap to check for endo and remove two cysts (one on each ovary). I woke up to the doctor telling me adenomyosis was also found. samples are sent to the lab to confirm what the doctor saw during the surgery. I know you're anxious and that's understandable, but please try not to get yourself too worked up. Call the office and talk with the nurse about your concerns if it will help calm you. You are really young, so whatever the outcome, once you know, do not rush into anything before knowing all your options. Good luck and remember the group is here for you even if you just need to vent.
