Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
This is probably a stupid question, but how can one tell if the pain is from the pelvic floor muscles or from the uterus/ovaries? Is there anything different about the pain? Where are the trigger points and how do you get to them?
Sorry about your daughter! 16 years old is way too young to have to deal with health issues! :( I hope it's nothing too serious.
((hugs))

There are no stupid questions hon. Well for me i know it was my pelvic fl because my pain is in my inner thighs and like a muscle burning discomfort. It would bother me most when sitting down since i sit on those muscles. LOL. It's more of a discomfort than a pain but still a pain in the ass (pun intended). :). The trigger points are deep inside. My left side is tighter than right side. Not really sure how trigger points develop. I will have to look that up because I dont remember that part ... sorry! I believe it is a sensitive spot a muscle develops that has been tight for a long time.
Thanks so much. We found out 7 yrs ago that she has the antibody for Lupus but NOT the disease and for the past 5 yrs she has had no problems... until she went to visit her grandparents for the summer in MS something she had done 3 yrs in a row. This time they took the greyhound there from Chicago. So docs think she picked up a viral infection but we really dont know. Her legs and arms were hurting really bad and she could hardly walk and her knees were (and stil are swollen) ... i had to fly her home so she she could see her specialist when she could barely walk but i had to get her home the quickiest way i could and a 14 hour drive was not what she needed. It was really bad for about 3-4 weeks. Then pain got better. For two months she did physical therapy twice a week and pool therapy 3 times a week. I was sooo hard Jenny. Me and her dad were terrified that she now had lupus but by grace of GOD she does not. She is doing alot better. She is a small teen (was 105 pounds but lost 10 pounds while she was sick) so we are trying to put the 10 pounds back on her. Her knees are still swollen but dont really hurt. The left knee has arthritis in it now tho so that knee hurts sometimes. Thanks so much for your hugs... i needed them. :)
How are you?
Hope everyone is ok today!
Wow....the ordeal with your daughter was horrible! It sounds like some kind of freaky Epstein-Barr virus attack. Or the virus she picked up at her grandparents triggered some kind of auto-immune response. What a nightmare. I have a 6 year old, and I CANNOT imagine him going thru something like that. Thank God she came out of it without anything really serious to deal with. I hope she continues to improve!
I had my post-op today. I didn't get a really good report from my hubby after the surgery (you know how men are with the details), so I have been anxious to hear what he found in there.
The good news is that he found no evidence of active endo! Yay! It's been 7 years since I have had endo found during a surgery. My problem is stuff keeps getting stuck together! Both ovaries, tubes, and bowel were stuck in multiple areas. He fixed me up and says that I have all the "proper equipment" to get pg again. My FSH is high (indicator of poor/reduce ovarian reserve), so it might be tough to catch a good egg. He recommended that we go straight to IVF given my age (37). I'm not sure I want to go down that road again. I guess I have some thinkin' to do!?!
Take care of yourself!
((gentle hugs today))

Yes I do feel like I've been riding a horse! I almost burned myself last night because I had my heating pad on high in between my knees. LOL. But it helped alot. I do feel the therapy helping so i will continue as long as i need to.
OMG when K got sick it was horrible. I was 1000 miles away and felt so helpless. All i could do was booked her on the next flight home. Thankfully she has a WONDERFUL rhemotologist and nurse who still remembered is after being gone for 5 years who took excellent care of K and me too!
Good news at postop. Yes I know how men are. When i have my 6th lap on Nov 5th im gonna tell my boyfriend to make sure he listens closely to what doc says while im recovering cuz i want to know THAT DAY!
So glad they didn't find endo. I also have a problem with adhesions. My last surgery was Aug 2008 and they didnt find anything so that would make May 2002 the last time they found endo and adhesions during surgery. I have a small cyst on each ovary now (been there a yr) and it appears to be adhesions on my mri film so im sure this will be interesting.
Yes you do have some thinking to do. Maybe you can try the old fashioned way to have a baby before you do ivf again. Since your postop was ok you are clear to start trying today :)... if you are up to it. Right after a lap you are more open to get pregnant but like you said with your high FSH it may be hard. I will pray for you on that.
Gentle hugs right back at you!

I just realized that I am actually feeling the best I've felt in a while. I am alittle achy but don't need any pain meds which is wonderful. Pelvic floor therapy is helping that pain and may also be helping the other other pain too esp since everything it pretty much connected. :). Surgery is in three weeks so hopefully i have good days before that. Have a good weekend everyone!
Jenny
How are you today?
Tomorrow is a new day....hoping for a pain free one for us all!

I am so happy that pelvic PT is working well for you. Overall it has done wonders for me, and I think that ou're right -- it works because things are waaay more interconnected than we sometimes realize!
One thing I wondered, though -- how did your therapist identify your trigger points? I have some very specific tender points, but we haven't necessarily referred to those as trigger points. Some actually seem to be scar tissue/area of adhesion from what we can tell.
Right now I am finished up with pelvic PT sessions, just doing some exercises at home, and focusing on lower back (muscles are messed up from tensing due to pain) for now. But, I still wonder if I might have some pelvic trigger points or other trigger points that are referring pain to the pelvic/abdominal area.
Thanks!
