Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
My GI specialist did endoscopy of my intestines after I told my Gyno that I had Endo problems of the bowel. I won't get into the whole bit of how every time I have diagnosed myself with something the doc makes me take expenseive tests, only to discover I was right. :P
Anyway, my intestines are comepletely encased in endo scar tissue. The GI doc said that your intestines likes to be free flowing as it moves a bit to pass things through. My instestines hit a brick wall all the time. Yes, I feel it 24/7. Also, on my left side there is a section of intestines that is pinched with tightly bound scar tissue. Everything that passes has to push its way through and can sometimes back up, causing really bad IBS pain and symptoms!
Since you asked about symptoms... When things get backed up, my belly swells up. My clothes won't fit! I get a full feeling inside and, though I am hungry, my brain says "dont eat". Deep in my belly I get a very tight feeling and sharp stabbing pains followed by burning and a twisting feeling. Then the intense pain and hot flashes start. Then when things finally push through it is the worst combo of pain and nausea and I get bad diarrhea till things settle back down again. Also, painful gas can occur. Until things get through I am constipated and my belly looks big like I gained a lot of weight.
I know that Endo can occur inside as well, but you'll need an endoscopy done by a GI specialist to know for sure. Sedation is your best friend for that procedure!
Heat therapy, self massaging the belly while lying in bed, and listening to my brain when it says dont eat right now, are three tricks I'm doing to help... and so far the backups are far less.
