Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Ok ladies so I had my first ever pap smear yesterday (I know rather over due) - during and afterwards I felt discomfort but wrote that off as the procedure itself. However as the afternoon went on I started being in more and more pain, come about 830-9pm last night I was in that much pain I was in tears, my vagina, uterus area and inner left leg thigh ached and throbbed. The pain ended up taking over my entire left leg to the point I couldnt move it. I took two panadine forte (didnt help) and the entire night got somewhere from 3-4 hours sleep if that. I spent the night laying either on my back or right side as my left side and stomach caused me too much pain.
I do not believe this is normal?
About a year ago I had an internal ultrasound which landed me in hospital due to pain and it causing me an inability to breathe properly - in the ultrasound they found an abnormally thick lining and a black circle/mass - which my gynaecologist at the time wrote off as in infection perscribed me anti-biotics and told me i'd be fine (no follow up investigations). At this time I was on depo and *shouldn't* have been getting my period so it made the thick lining even more bizzar to doctors (however my gynaecologist thought nothing of it????).
Im wondering if the two could be linked? Or if you ladies have any ideas? Similar situations?
COULD it be a link to endo? Im going to tell my Gynaecologist this Friday when I discuss having my laparoscopy done (yes finally it shall be done!).
I've been up all night, im still in some discomfort but im so sick of all this pain constantly - it's doing me in emotionally. I'd really love some advice from you all.

You say the ultrasound showed an abnormally thick lining... are you referring to the lining of the uterus? If so, this could be adenomyosis. From my understanding, adenomyosis is basically endo growing in the wall of the uterus. This can cause a lot of pain and discomfort in the uterine area. There is a procedure to fix it... it's called a presacral neurectomy. You may want to speak with your doc about this. I hear the presacral neurectomy can have great results!
Yes I did mean thick lining of the uterus wall - When I went into hospital that night the doctor in the E.R said to the Gyno "Check her for endo, she sounds like a classic case with her symptoms and history" maybe my Gynaecologist felt offened in being told how to do her job, she insisted to me I didnt need to be tested, but when questioned on why my uterus wall was abnormally thick she had no answer.
I'll inform my Gynaecologist on Friday about everything... Thanks for the insight =)

That sounds awful! And it sounds like given the feedback you have a general knowledge of what was causing such pain... even so, since this is the first time its happened, I wouldn't wait till Friday. Call your doctor now, and if they want to wait till Friday they can; however, they might be willing to see you sooner or at least talk over the phone/prescribe pain pills.
