Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
If you are having pain that is hard to control, definitely mention it to your doctor, or OB/GYN so any tests that are needed to find out what would be causing this can be ordered. Also, make sure you make it clear the pain is really bothering you and that you'd like to know what's causing it, whether it's endometriosis or something else.
I have always had a lot of pain with my periods, and it started out with the pains like you're describing. I had found some relief with alternating heat and ice. I have been told by a friend that heat helps with relaxation of the muscles and that ice helps with any swelling. If you're trying to stay away from pain medicine and want something natural, raspberry leaf tea might help (available in most health food stores like Rainbow Blossom). It doesn't taste like raspberries- it's just kind of like the taste of a regular black tea. It doesn't help my pain, but it does help some people with cramps. It does, however, kind of help relax me, and I usually put some sweetener or some honey in it to sweeten it up a little.
I hope you feel better soon and are able to find some relief.
I mostly use the heating pad, and I wear looser clothing when my right side is acting up.
If you're concerned definitely bring it up with your doctor.
I hope you start feeling better soon!
When my gyn was brushing off my problems, I just said screw it, and went to my GP. It was actually my GP who diagnosed me with having uterine polyps and anemia, and she was looking at the exact same u/s and MRI reports my gyn had access to. Sometimes it just takes a fresh pair of eyes to catch something, or someone who kept themselves more up-to-date to figure things out (my GP was years more up-to-date than my gyn). My GP didn't to my surgery but she at least pointed me in the right direction.
Hope you start feeling better!
