Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
So for the past 2 weeks or so my sleep has been disrupted at night. Its hard enough being on lupron and going to bed feeling uncomfortable and then having warm flashes etc, but now i'm waking up in the night due to nightmares. I had to call out of work today because I'm too exhausted to work and I'm not getting enough sleep at night. UGH!
About 2 weeks ago they started off as just plain bad dreams. Mostly about bad things happening to my friends/co-workers. Such as my co-worker who is getting married soon, I dreamed that his fiancee was cheating on him and he was devastated. I have a friend who had to change her diet due to her diabetes and had a dream that this diet made her severely bulimic and I was so scared for her. I had another dream where another friend of mine was trying to have a baby and found out that she could never have kids and I felt so bad for her that I cried hysterically for her through out this dream.
But this past week they have been getting worse. I had a dream that a good friend of mine was so depressed that she committed suicide. In another dream my town was leveled by a tsunami and my mom found all of our pets dead and I saw their mutilated bodies. A few nights ago I dreamed that I was being attacked by evil demonic entities and I couldn't fight them off and I woke up scared crap-less. Then last night I had 2 night mares one about a possessed little boy who was stalking me and trying to kill me. Every time he came near me I couldn't breath. Then the last one was about how I found out something that I wasn't supposed to and the guy that had a hit out on me could read my mind and knew my every move so I couldn't get away from him. In the end he had me pinned down and took a jagged piece of glass and was going to stab me in the throat with it.
I know that they are just dreams, but when they wake you out of a dead sleep it takes you a while to calm down and relax again. :(
I just don't know whats going on....no med changes, health changes, or anything like that, haven't changed my diet, and i'm mentally, spiritually and emotionally well. I've noticed the past few days due to sleep issues I'm just physically exhausted, but other then that i'm good. I'm on my last shot of lupron and it still has 2 weeks or more before it wears off so I don't know what it could be.
Anyone have any advice? Or know whats going on? Has this happened to anyone else for a period of time? I'm afraid to sleep tonight. :(

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this! I remember having nightmares as well while on Lupron. Is it helping your endo at least? I would try a few different things, try doing very soothing things before bed. Drink some nice tea, take a hot bath, read a funny/sweet book. Try and stay away from the TV, video games, violent books, etc. Also, are you taking any small doses of add back hormones with your Lupron? If not, ask your doctor about it. Just adding a little bit of your natural hormones to the mix may help a lot.
Thanks for your advice. It could be just the lupron. I'm on lorazapam and I try not to take it unless I really have to, so I took one last night and it helped, dream was just strange but not horrific. I just don't want to become dependent on them as I know that they can be addictive and you can eventually build a resistance to them. :( But this was my last shot and it should wear off in about 2 weeks or so and I'll see what happens then.
@cmay21- It is helping the endo thankfully!!!! I'm nervous for when I go off as I still have some slightly painful days on Lupron, I can still function and the pain is just annoying and not crippling like it used to be, so I fear that with the slight pain that I have while on the Lupron as soon as it wears off I'll be in raging pain again. :( I guess we will see.
I can't take any add back therapy as I had breast cancer and they are afraid that any increase in hormones natural or not may cause my cancer to come back. :(

aside from that im also wondering if you've tried femara??? it's fda approved for the treatment of breast cancer and i have personally tried it (along with add-back progesterone) for its off label use in treating endometriosis though it was an unsuccessful in helping me. i couldn't handle the fatigue and painful breakthough pain/spotting with it...so i only took it for 4 months before i quit. i was supposed to stick it out for a year because in theory it made sense to try it and in the few clinical trials i researched femara has the potential to actually shrink/reduce endometrial implants. i'm sorry that you are suffering too.....hugs~jenny
I too am confused with the hormone thing. Some of my docs don 't want me on b/c again as they are now saying that it does help contribute to the certain type of cancer that I had. Others say its o.k. in really small doses and others say absolutely not. Femera as far as I know was ruled out for me, I can ask about it again.
As soon as my lupron shots wear off and if my pain gets horrible again then they consented to a really low dose b/c called camilla. I hope that works.
I just don't know anymore. AARRGG!
