I have been on it since last oct or nov. It has completly stopped my period so that has been a plus. Down side I still have endo symptoms (I unfrotuantly have non period related symptoms). It did help for a while though, but really what I need is surgery to clean the endo out. I say try it, eveyone is different, so it might help. There is a woman on here who has been taking it for a long time and it has really helped her. Good luck!

I have been on it for probably a few years now, and it totally stops my period. I also have non-period related symptoms, but it has allowed me to live at least some semblance of a normal life. One thing I will caution you about--I was on the full 15 mg (three pills) a day, and symptoms got worse. My doctor told me that if your body has too much norethindrone, it can convert the components of the medication to estrogen, which fuels endometriosis. Just be aware of that and play with the dose a bit if you need to--more is not necessarily better!

Overall, I would definitely suggest giving it a shot. It has done wonders for me.

Thanks...that took away some of my fear. I looked it up online and only read horror stories, so I'm happy to hear some success stories. My dosage is 3.5 mg. With my birth control pills, I always got my period on the weekend. That was wonderful because I would just cancel my plans, and would usually be better enough to work on Monday. The Norethindrone scares me because you don't get your period on the same day, so I'm scared about getting it on a work day or even worse, in the middle of the day unexpectedly. That's when my worst pain is. I also have read so much about the weight gain. I guess I don't know till I try it, though.

are you going to be taking it everyday? If you are you might not get your period at all. I started this med last oct/nov. And had been on constant birthcontrol since july of that year and I haven't had a period since july 2012. I know some people get break through bleeding, but from what I read if you do they can increase the dose a little. I have always been on 5mg daily with no spotting or anything. Im still on this med bc it is used as add back with lupron.

I do the same thing with reading online info before taking a med and the horror stories can be super overwhelming. (You should have seen me before my 1st lupron shot, I was a freakin mess...that poor nurse)

Yeah, I agree...I always read the awful stuff online, but honestly, those websites have to list anything that happened to anyone EVER, and a lot of times, it's not actually applicable to the majority of people. Like VallyWillis27, I have been on the norethindrone continuously, and do not get a period. I have only experienced some breakthrough bleeding maybe twice in the last few years on this med, and it was because I forgot to take it (so it was my fault, not the medicine's!).
As far as weight gain, I am not really sure--I am on several medications for endometriosis and back problems, and I had some weight gain, but it was minimal. I can't say whether it was from the norethindrone, or from another one of my meds. I will say that I think it is worth it--it may not even make you gain weight. Just be careful about what you eat, and remember that a few pounds is a small price to pay for a treatment that could really change your life.

Thanks! I am going to finish my pill pack, have a period, and then start it. Probably in about a week and a half. Hopefully that will be my last period for awhile then! I'm so glad it works for you guys. That gives me hope!
