i have two girls ages 7 and 9...and i know what you mean. they shouldn't have to take care of me either... i have had to tell them twice now that surgery's haven't worked. i just flat out told them i was still sick and that it didn't work and then i tried to reinforce it with the few positives i could come up with...like mommy can't go back to work but at least i'll be home so we can have movie nights, and color and play board games etc... i tried to smile when i told them and reassured them that i wasn't going to give up. they took it quite well, but when my lil one hugged and kissed me and said she could take care of me, i almost lost it...and then she added "but can you still make me macaroni and cheese"? and i said of course i could...lol and she was good with it. i'm so sorry your having to do this. it's extremely difficult and heart wrenching.

I don't have children of my own but I tried to put myself in that situation... I would much rather know the truth. Wondering will just put my own ideas in my head. I remember as a child I was very sensitive to my mother's well being. A mother and child have a special bond with an almost silent relationship. Your son knows that there is something up because he not only see it he can sense it.

Validate his feeling on this.

Thank you ladies! I told him, watched his little jaw drop, saw the sadness in his eyes, broke my heart. I tear up every time I think about it. He asked why it did not work, I tried to explain, at the end he just sat there and then looked at me smiled and then started talking about school. He has now went back to his protective mode, back to being my little shadow, and I catch him just staring at me all the time. The things I did not want to happen have happened, my baby worrying over me, but I know in the long run it is better that he knows.

last night when i was tucking my oh so perceptive little one into bed she said "what if her kids get it...."? omg...!!! it took me a second to compose myself and i'm still wondering where she picked up on the whole genetic thing...hoping i comforted and reassured her enough for her not to worry. i almost lost it though... still believe i may even be in shock. i told her the only thing i cold think of...the truth, which was that mommy and other women all over the world are working to avoid just that very thing and that the doctors and scientists were also working very hard with us on figuring it out and have already made a lot of discoveries that will help. so, their was ABSOLUTELY no reason for her to worry her pretty little head over it... then i kissed her goodnight and called my mom to unload it on her...

Ok, this definitely brought tears to my eyes. My daughter is only 2 and can not even begin to understand what I go through on a daily basis but it breaks my heart knowing that I am not able to spend time with her because I am hurting so badly. I have a full plate as it is with work and school so some days I don't even get to see her. It's horrible that on days when I should be playing with her, instead I am stuck on a heating pad in the bed. This disease is destroying me.

I can sympathize there are so many days I feel like I am the worst mother in the world. He will ask me to do things and most the time I can't due to this damn pain. So instead he will curl up on the couch with me, I am always reassuring him, but he does not understand, I hate this....I hate that we suffer like this, I hate that this damn disease ruins our lives. I hope that you find relief so you and your little girl can spend more time together, this is all just so heart breaking and well, just SUCKS!

it's so difficult to look at my girls and wonder how much longer till they start their periods...my oldest will be 10 in a few months and my husband and i were discussing last night as to what we should watch for and then i was like...omg, if we do suspect it what in the world can we even do???? there is not even really any studies done that prove that early intervention helps lower recurrence. i am so horrified by even the thought of this...and i have been reading everything i can find on endo lately. i can't watch my babies go through the same misery i am. i know that now i HAVE to stand up to doctors and make them understand what the pain is like and how debilitating this disease is, so that hopefully my children(though i pray they don't get this)won't have to go through getting treated as though it's just cramps, or suffer in pain instead of getting help. i agree with you kendra that all of this just SUX!!!
