Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I had an appointment with my new doctor today (same practice, but new doctor since my previous doctor left the practice). And it was actually great. She was very thorough and really listened everything I said and was sure to answer all of my questions. So that was great. She did an ultrasound and an exam and everything looks normal, no cysts or polyps, which is also great. My pelvic floor is in great shape too. But, my pain and bleeding is a big problem.
She gave me some options and said it is up to me as far as what I am comfortable with, but she told me what would be ideal in her opinion. She said that she thinks I should get the Mirena IUD AND continue my BC, and that I should have another lap. She said that I can try just breaking from my BC every two months, or I can get the Mirena IUD and stop my pill, or just have the lap, it's totally up to me. I don't know what to do, I just want to feel better!
I want to know more about people's experience with Mirena. The way my doctor spoke of it it sounded great to me, but I don't know much about side effects, etc. I am also very curious about combining BC with an IUD, as I have never heard of doing that before.
And what about another lap? Should I hold off on that or should I go through with it? it's been 3.5 years since my last one when I was 18.
Lastly, has anyone had any experience with kidney stones? She thinks that my left side groin pain and my random severe pain episodes are attributed to kidney stones, but I don't know much about them...

I have horrible bleeding: 2 packs of super pads PER day minimum and for first 3-5 days of my period! My period goes for 2-3 weeks...
I had some hiccups with the mirena settling but eventually when the BC was added after some time it has settled my bleeding down :) I now only get spotting every few months when my period would come :)
However i still have pain as I have a few other issues not just endo...but if you're wanting to get the bleeding under control it could help :)
The only reason i am considering having it removed is because my skin has broken out terribly. I have a history of acne when I was about 13-16. When my doc put me on bc for ovarian cysts he was working to find the right combo of hormones to clear my skin. Since then my skin has been fine up until now. My obgyn said she doesn't usually get complaints about acne and I'm only the 3rd person she's had report it as a side effect. Other than that the mirena has been great, but I know it's not for everybody. If you go for it and don't feel right listen to your body and talk to your doctor.

Since having it though I have gained 30 kgs :(
I have also had 2 more surgeries and I'm now going to pursue a hysterectomy I've already lost 1 ovary. For me personally the only positive has been the no periods everything else has continued to worsen.
However it is 100% worth a try I say! You never know your luck :)
