Hi! I had my Mirena inserted during my second lap just over 3 years ago so was under for the insertion. I haven't had any issues with it, I can't feel it at all. I have not had a period since then which has been great. But the Mirena on it's own did not do enough for pain relief. I had a third lap last summer and kept the Mirena in but pain came back with a vengeance about four months after. I started Lupron injections five months ago, I've been on Lupron before and it has been the only thing that has helped the pelvic pain for me. I know it's not for everyone but it has really helped me. My problem now is that the 4 week injection I'm on is only lasting 3 weeks. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I had my first laparoscopy on Wednesday and had the Mirena Coil inserted at the same time. My doctor first recommended Lupron after the laparascopy and I was very scared to go down that road give I am 28, single, not starting a family anytime soon, and need to be able to maintain my daily activities. I thought the Lupron injections could interfere with those. I had a friend with endo who said the Mirena Coil along with pelvic floor physical therapy and lifestyle changes were the best treatment for her. I feel way less scared about the coil than the Lupron. I am on pain meds for the surgery so if there are bad side effects or cramps from the Mirena, I am not feeling them. I have only had small amount of vaginal bleeding too after my surgery. I will let you know how this works for me in 3 to 6 months. Per the coil, that's when my periods and pain should lighten. I was diagnosed with mild endometriosis, but had terrible chronic pain. Best and hugs!

I had Mirena for 3 years and it was the worst thing I ever did to my body. Weight gain, increased pelvic pain (which in hindsight could have been from the endo, as I was just recently diagnosed but my MD said I've likely had it for a few years), hair loss, breakouts on my back and rear, constant bloating. Things improved for a while after I got it taken out, but then it all came back and thats when my doc started talking about endo. I know some people have had success with it, but make sure you look into all the side effects. A lot of women have had very bad experiences with it.
