Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Using lupron was really a last ditch effort for me to see if I could get some releif. I didn't so im in the process of scheduling my 2nd surgery (excision) for this coming year. I know this med yas really helped some people and some people feel worse using it. Everyone is different. Please, my only suggestion, make sure your dr gives you add back therapy. It will help with some of the side effects and help prevent bone loss that can occur with this med.
Good luck!
I would recommend doing one month shots at first, then if it works for you, do a three month shot, but don't go right in with the three month, b/c then you are stuck with it until it runs it's course, I'm so thankful I did only the one month. One last thing, you should know upfront that it can take 1-3 months after stopping to get a period again (just in case you are doing this for fertility issues, if not disregard, but I didn't know this before starting). Good luck and you can check out my blog for my weekly updates with my experience on lupron. http://mrsandmre.blogspot.com Best wishes!
VallyWillis 27 - My doc talked about doing add back with the Lupron to minimize the side effects so that's good.
vansanturtle - i am definitely worried about cysts so that is a bummer to hear. My doc is only wanting to do a 6mo round of Lupron.
ksengbers- thanks for the info. i will def talk to my doc about the 1mo shots. I had a lap, excision of endo, ablation and tubal a few weeks back so fertility is not a concern. Hopefully i won't have a period at all after the ablation!
I'm not sure if you've decided if you're doing it or not, but in any case, good luck! Hopefully it'll work :)
The second time I sort of knew what to expect and so was pleasantly surprised to find they werent nearly as bad, of course I had been able in introduce a few things that I hadnt had the first time around, exercise, acupuncture and some extra coping skills. My hair even stayed normal. And again it worked, calmed everything back down so I could go into my last cycle healthier.
