Lupron questions

I've read plenty of question etc from ladies on here about Lupron but I have some of my own I need some advice on if people wouldnt mind helping me with!

I am going to see the professor tomorrow and be blunt with him in saying I want a laparoscopy done, after having issues since 9 years old(turning 20 this year) , trying different OCP's and Depo ProVera (nothing worked), and a male GP who didnt care much for helping along with a gyno who was much the same both saying "alot of women experience pain, its normal you'll grow out of it". I dont want anything else but the laparoscopy to clarify whats going on in there for me.

But I do have a question - I see that Lupron is very commonly given to women with endo and I'm wondering is this something he will suggest to me before or after the laparoscopy? and If so should I take it, given that the Depo Provera gave me osteoporosis (low bone density) and I have suffered for many years with depression. I dont want to take something that would aggrivate or worsen these.

Of course I'll make the professor aware of this, But I was just wondering what you all think? Should I say a big no no to that as well?

I know some women have had success with it, so please take this as my own personal opinion. :) I have never and will never put that poison in my body. I have never been offered Lupron or any other suppression meds by any of my doctors because none of them believe in it. You are only supposed to be on Lupron for 6 months in a lifetime, yet there are so many women who are taking it for longer than that, even years! That scares me.

I had Excision surgery by one of the leading surgeons in the US for Endometriosis. Here is an article about Lupron from his website:

Thankyou so much for the advice and reserch material... I am in Australia and have moved states in the last few months, since moving I have requested I be sent to what I've been told is the best doctor in Australia for endo.

Hopefully he knows his stuff and believes the same way and wont offer. I've told my parents and my boyfriend, no more drugs, they are going in and doing something about it!

Hi Lindsaypsl, i have to thank you for your information... I just looked at the sites, and they are very informative... I didnt even know they had Specialists for this... Thanks so much!!! My doc asked me to do the Lupron shot without any further information...so thanks so much for this...

I am 21 and have been on lupron for 5 months now. i know everyone has a differnt opinion as well as different experiences but i have had the best experience with it. i did have side effects from it such as hot flashes and mood swings at first, then after 3 months i have been on add back hormones so that i dont end up with ostioperosis and other side effects from being on lupron. my hot flashes and mood swings are no longer a problem. i have thoracic endometriosis which is endo tissue on the lungs and i have tried many things to help me and nothing seemed to work. i was at the point where i was bed ridden and in so much pain where i would be hospitalized for days at a time. I really think you should talk to your doctor about it if its suggested that you go on it. its a personal choice and just like every other medication out there, people do have good and bad stories about it. so its totally up to you, and also ask your doctor to print you up info about it because they will have accurate info on lupron good and bad* so whatever your decision may be i hope its the best for you and everything works out* Take care* =*)

Star Kiss, unfortuntately there appears to be only a handful of actual Endometriosis Specialists in the US which is very disappointing! Your average gynecologist is usually pretty clueless when it comes to Endometriosis. Their day to day consists of delivering babies and treating STD's, not Endometriosis.

Thoratic Endo?! Wow, that's a whole different beast! I'm sorry you have had to go through that. Have you had a thoracoscopy? I have not met anyone who has had one for Endo.

Lindsaypsl... yes it is very odd, it took about 6 yrs to diagnoise it and millions of tests but finally it was figured out* i have talked to one person who has the same condition as me on here but i dont think she is on here anymore. it caused alot of problems and pain but its finally under control for now. Lupron was pretty much the last thing i had to try before surgery where they want to remove the whole bottom lobe of my right lung because the endo has caused alot of damage and thats the only way to remove it completely, so i tried and its worked so far, which is a relife for now* im pretty much a gunie pig tho not many doctors have seen this before, its just trial and error when treating this. if you have any questions feel free to pick me brain*

Lupron is usually the last resort. At least, it has been that way with every doctor I went to. In fact, three of them wouldn't even give it to me because they said I was "too young." "Too young" to be healthy and get some relief? Nonsense! I found a doctor that finally found my endo and then gave me Lupron, and I did SO great on it. And if you knew me for longer than a week, you'd know I can barely take any medicine at all without horrible side effects and sickness...including birth control! The first month was pretty bad while my body adjusted, but as soon as I got the second shot, everything evened out and I was great!
