I loved Lupron. It's the only thing that has ever even remotely helped me. In fact, my doc swapped me to Depo Provera a few months ago, and now I am miserable all over again. Of course, there are people who absolutely hate Lupron like I hate the other drugs. But I decided to try it because I had exhausted every other option and had nothing left to lose.
The first month I tried it was really bad. I had a LOT of bleeding and was really weak. It was my body trying to adjust, and once I got the second shot, I had NO period, NO pain, nothing!! For 10 months, until he decided to try something else.
So really, it just depends on you. It's a really personal decision because you know how bad your problems are and if there are any other options to try. But for me, it God-sent.

the first time i did lupron was about 6 years ago and it was a total nightmare. hot flashes every 30 mins., night sweats and horrible fatigue. i was desperate this last year tho and i knew it was my only hope to reduce or eliminate my pain, which i could no longer bear, so i reluctantly asked my new gyno for it. i told him my concerns and he said that he always prescribed progesterone with it to minimize the side effects. wow! what a difference! i started taking the progesterone the day i got my first 3month shot and to my surprise, the hot flashes were extremely mild when i had them, which wasn't that often and i didn't wake up drenched with night sweats...! the pain was really bad the first couple of weeks on it and then it was like a miracle. my pain was gone and for the first time in years, i felt like a normal person... it was a total life saver for me. unfortunately tho, it can cause bone loss. so it's only recommended for use 6months to a year in a life time.

this is i know, a very touchy subject on here, as some women have had really bad experiences with it and it is definitely a personal choice but for me, the pain relief was worth the risks.

Lupron was a nightmare for me. It caused a very weird side effect in me which was recurrent UTIs. My urologist was really puzzled because the type I had only occurs in women after menopause. Then I told him about the Lupron. I was on it for 1- 3 month shot. I refused the 2nd shot because I was becoming suicidal. I have never been like that before or after. My side effects that I experienced are just now starting to go away a year later- the night sweats and bad skin.

All this said, as strange as it sounds, I would do it again. The combination of surgery, Lupron and BC pills made my pain go away, and I am much healthier overall. I do not know which of these did it, or if it was the combination. My main motivation was the ability to have children. I did not want to take that chance not to have that choice one day. And I am pain free also!

No one knows how their body will react until they are on the Lupron, then you have to live with it. How much do you trust your doctor? I had complete confidence in mine and still do. I think she would always do what she thought was the best for me in the long term. You may have no problems. It might suck. But at least you will know you did everything you could to preserve your ability to have children and relieve your pain.

its true.. the hot flashes and night sweats are horrible... but the pain decreases considerably. In my case it helped a lot. Just like (girlscandrum) I went to DepoProvera and i'm miserable again hehe but even though the "menopause" that the Lupron provokes is horrible, the endo relief is great.
