Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Sorry I don't know more about it- I am planning on asking my doctor about it also.
Therapies that help me are:
daily psoas stretches (sitting alot keeps it tight)
heat therapy when it cramps, and lying in bed
cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxant) when the severe pain hits
massage therapy to help loosen the hip muscles
I strongly advise massage therapy for everyone, no matter the health problem. Just be sure to get a certified therapist and not just some run-of-the-mill massage. My therapist is expensive, but when I CAN afford to see her. she truly knows her stuff and even helped my left side. She could tell the difference between muscle and endo adhesions! Hope this helped. :)
For the record - it went AWAY COMPLETELY after 2 things:
1. my first surgery. went away for about 3 months, then came back.
2. IVF treatments. DH thinks that it was all the progesterone shots I was on. The back pain (and leg pain) went away COMPLETELY as soon as I started the shots, and came back about a week after I stopped taking the meds.
It's the most painful part of my endo suffering and drives me batty! I've also done cortizone shots to the spine, that also helped a ton and lasted about 6 months. Still, the pain was partially there. Only the surgery and IVF treatments caused the pain to go away completely...at least for a little time.
