Hello,
I am new to this community because I had a lap yesterday and found out why we're not getting preggo- I have endometriosis- I think at stage 3. My RE had another surgery after mine and he didn't tell my DH or Mom what stage. The nurse/doctor I saw right after I woke up- still kinda groggy told me that. I am going to see my RE Tuesday.
Here's the worst part- the tube they thought was blocked from my HSG is... it seems to be full of endo that he couldn't get all out. He vaporized the other stuff. He also took a cyst off my tube, and a possible polyp. The good news- my other tube is clear right now.
The RE mentioned to my DH that he would like me to go into temporary menopause for 3 months to try to dissolve the endo from my tube and prevent it from coming back as soon. I have been looking this process up and it is freaking me out! I am thinking I would have to do this through a GnRH such as Lupron. Then I have been reading your posts, and everyone seems to be saying how awful it is/was. I know that my body is VERY sensitive to drugs, depressions runs in my family, I get moody and tired form BC pills and Clomid.
So....... I need some opinions, advice, experiences, suggestions etc. for when I go see my RE Tuesday. I want to go in to him knowing what he's talking about and I really need to know if any of you have had similar results and are there other options.
My RE doesn't perform IVF- the nurse/doctor (not sure what she was) that I mentioned before, told me she had severe endo, and both her tubes were blocked and she just had a baby girl through IVF- she gave me her doctor's name. I'm not sure if DH and I want to go that route. I think there's a chance of getting preggo with one tube, but what if that one fills up with endo too? HELP!! Like I said, any stories, advice you have is MUCH APPRECIATED!

Since surgery, I have been on Zoladex (1 month) and Lupron (3 months - another 2 to go). Both of these are GnRH agonists and both have very similar side effects that mimic menopausal symptoms. As awful as they may sound, there are options available for relieving these symptoms if they become too bothersome.
Be sure to discuss this with your doctor before starting your plan of treatment. It may be, that he/she puts you onto add-back therapy at the same time so that there is a bit more of a balance with your hormones. In any case however, be sure to tell your doctor of your family history of depression because this is a known side effect of GnRH treatment also.
and remember there is always add-back medications to help with the hot flashes & other symptoms.
I am going to try to go without the add back at first (cause it seems counterproductive) then if it gets too bad I will do it.
We can be Lupron buddies,lol
seriously. check with your doctor about add-back.
I think we're leaning towards Lupron with add back therapy, baby aspirin, and Floate.
