It's been a while..

Hello everyone. I jut realized today how long it has been since I posted here! I bought a brand new house & have been working 12 hour shifts so life has been quite crazy. Anyway, I wanted to get a few questions & what-not off my chest in one post.

First off, I finally saw my surgeon for my 6 month follow-up...told him I was having periods on the Megestrol so he switched me to the Depo shot, which I am happy about. I was on it for 5 years when I was younger & had few side effects aside from some acne, & a lot of spotting at first. But I am trying to be hopeful. What has been your experience with the Depo shot?

Also, he said if I have bleeding, even spotting, I should take Premarin to stop it. I guess it is a very strong Estrogen pill that is supposed to thicken the lining of my uterus to stop the bleeding (since I was on Megestrol for so long he says that probably thinned the lining a lot). Guess what this pill is made out of....that's right, pregnant horse urine!!! What!? How weird! Haha. Anyway, the pharmacist said to only take it when I am bleeding because if you take it at other times it can cause cancer. So, I guess my question is, has anyone else ever taken this? What should I know about it? (I have yet to google it)

Went to the ER last week...I was at work & literally could do nothing because I was in so much pain. That has not happened to me since before my Endo lap in August, so I am worried that more has already grown back. IDK...I really have been mentally 'avoiding' Endo for a few months now. It is so exhausting to think about. I know I really should come on here more, keep learning about the disease, write in my Endo diary, but I just don't have the motivation I suppose. Anyone been feeling that way lately?

Lastly, if anyone remembers one of my last posts about the pain management doctor putting me on all those random nerve meds & other useless shit? Well, that has done NOTHING at all for Endo pain. All it is doing is tearing up my stomach. I am not sure of what to say to her when I see her on the 12th to get her to stop experimenting with me & just give me my emergency Percocet & call it a day. That is all you can really do with Endo (in my opinion, as nothing else seems to touch that flare-up pain).

Sorry for the long post, I just had so many questions, & I hope to hear from everyone! I will try to hop on more often. I miss you guys! =D

Good to see you on here Jessye. Let me know how you do on the Depo shot. It's what my gyn is wantin to do for me and I'm just so nervous about it for some reason. I don't know much about the Premarin for that use but I do know you should be cautious with it and if you take it, do so as little as possible. It's an estrogen. I've been told if the lining of the uterus gets too thick, which mine tends to be, it puts you at a higher risk for uterine or endometrial cancer.
I'm on Neurontin and it does help my bladder pain and some of the burning pains I had but not any of the bad pain so I agree you need something strong too. I hope that doctor helps you out.
Sometimes an endo break is needed. I'm thinking about taking one myself. Too much else going on and it's just not helping me mentally to dwell on everything. I can't get my doctor to do another surgery like I would like so I'm just going to leave it alone for awhile.

Hello :) I am 38 at the moment and have had the symptoms since I was 26. I hear what you're saying about the pain and prescriptions they give us...they all got me high as a kite but the pain was always still there :( I found the only solution for myself has been the laparoscopy. It seems to help ease the pain and control it with over the counter medicine. I have had 3 of them as they refuse to give me a hysterectomy due to the fact that I have not had children yet (even though i was basically told I would probably not be able to carry to term if I tried). Anyways, I was on the Depo for about 5 years but it really screwed up with my bones....giving me osteopenia which is the step before osteoporosis. In my early 30's I had the bone of a 50 year old. So if I was on it I'd highly recommend taking vitamin d and calcium supplements. It is great for avoiding the pain though!! I then was put on cyclen (the pill) with no breaks in between to avoid getting a period. It worked for a little bit but then the spotting and discharge began. So then I was put on the Mirena IUD and I have an appointment coming up soon so I'll find out what the doctor says. I don't think it'll be positive as I have had spotting and discharge on a monthly basis! :( Apparently your periods are supposed to stop completely. Good luck ladies :)

Thank you for the comments!! I had every intention of getting on here so much sooner, but someone broke into my brand new house!!! And guess what they stole (among MANY MANY things)?? My brand new prescription of emergency Percocet that I have been trying for months to get! Of course, just my luck. And now no one will refill it, even though I have a police report. I swear I cannot catch a break!! This last month has been absolute HELL. I also had to put my 3 year old kitty to sleep Sunday ='( which is the worse feeling in the world...*sigh*. Life is just not my friend lately!

Anyways, aside from all that sad, negative stuff, thank you for the responses. I have not had to take the Premarin yet, as I have suprisingly not had a peroid yet. Usually I hve some spotting or something whenever I get a shot, but not this time.

I have completely given up on all of these doctors. Every single one of them just seem to say it is not their area of expertise to treat me and want to pass it off to someone else! I keep telling them that someone needs to f-ing help me already & they just flat out won't. So I think from now on if I am in pain I will just go to the er all the time & get treated there since no one else wants to help me. It is sad that I feel that way, but what else can you do?

Veronica-I am glad to see I am not the only one with the docs shoving a million pills down my throat that don't work. It is awful! I agree that laps are the best thing, but these docs don't like to do them all that often so when you are in pain in between surgeries it feels like you are left in the wind. Interesting that you mention the hysterectomy thing-my husband kept bringing that up & over & over I had to explain to him that no doctor will do it because I am too young & I haven't had kids (which is silly, if you can't have them anyways...). I think the decision should be up to us weather we want it or not, but it is never that easy. Thanks for the advice on the vitamins-I really should start taking them since this is my second round of the Depo shot (5 years before this time, with a few years of a break). I never took vitamins before. Thank you!!!!!
