Well i guess i should start of with saying that I'm 18 years old, and my dr. recently diagnosed me with endo. I haven't had a lap done, but all of the symptoms combined with the cyst i have had point to it. She wants to put me on the depoo provera shot. I have been taking ortho tri-cyclen norgestimate, ethinyl estradio) low since October of 2011 until the beginning of this year, when i stopped to see if it was the cause of my pain. It wasnt and my gyno reccomended i start back up on it so i did. I have been having this pain for about two years. It has only got worse, and more frequent. My family seems to think I'm over dramatic and i feel helpless. Its so scary to think that i might just end up having to live with this disease.
The only thing that helps is a heating pad and this Urinary tract infection pain relief pill called Azo. Its weird that a medication meant for relieving UTI pain would give me relief.

Welcome to our group! I'm sorry you're dealing with so much pain, endo is tough to deal with. It might be worth getting a second opinion on your diagnosis and treatment, since endo can only be truly diagnosed by a lap. Oftentimes, pain is greatly diminished after this surgery if some endo is removed. I had tremendous relief for about a year. Of course, it's different for everyone. Hope you find support here- thus us a fab group of women :)

Welcome! I'm 29 but my symptoms started when I was 12. I remember being told that I was faking it for attention and that I was exaggerating when I was your age. I'm glad that your doc is taking you seriously.

However, polkadot is right - you need to have a lap for official diagnosis. Plus while they're in there they can remove some endo and that cyst and you can end up with a good amount of pain relief. I would definitely speak to your doctor about having the surgery. We've all done it and I promise it's not that bad!!

Welcome! I haven't been officially diagnosed yet, I'm still in the process of finding a gyn that will listen to me and not think that it's just a "heavy period". Gyn number 3 tomorrow! I have my gp to back me up though and that's grateful. She even emphasised when referring me that I have chronic pelvic pain and heavy bleeding.

I have quite a few cysts as well. Painful things they are. I'm sorry that your pain has gotten worse and has become more frequent. We all know what that is like.

Sometimes family members just don't understand or don't want to. I'm sorry that they feel you're just being overdramatic. That certainly doesn't make you feel better! Just know that you have lots of support here :)
