Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
it sounds as if your endometriosis is managed simply by going off birth control. have you had a lap diagnosis, or was it diagnosed simply through symptoms?
i believe it's your choice to have children, but i would caution you to take such a drastic step, when you seem to be quite young still? things do change. what if you fall in love with someone that absolutely wants a family?
so just to summarize, your endo pain is managed, correct? you have no pain? so what you are really looking for is birth control that doesnt exasperate your endo again and make it flare up?
Why does an IUD sound disgusting to you? once it's in there you dont feel it, see it, know its there... i personally have a paragard right now, it is hormone free, i have had it for two years.
obviously these are personal choices, but i think if it is birth control you are looking for there are many options. what about an implant or a patch?
An IUD can cause many infections as stated in the brochures and online. Since coming off the pill I have had NO yeast, NO BV. When I was getting an infection every 2 weeks on the pill. Plus I don't want something I have no control over. What if my doctor decides not to take it out? With a pill I can say screw this I don't want to take it. But with that, no.
I do not have daily pain and only period pain not being on the pill. So a week of pain still sucks but it's better than the daily pain I was having while on the pill. And I have tried about 10-15 different pills at this point.
it is really odd that your doc would do a hysterectomy but not a tubal. i wonder if it would have to do with legal risk for him/her?
i would look for a second opinion.
and i agree, one week of pain stinks, but at least its not every day.
i said this earlier, but i think it is really up to us to get the care we want. pester your doctor till you get what you need. it may be that you feel like you're being annoying, but often thats the only way to get results. it's your health, nobody will care as much as you will and will fight for it like you will.
