Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Well, I had a laproscopic hysterectomy, vaginally assisted on the 8th. My OBGYN wanted to take my ovaries too, saying that I will continue to have symptoms if I kept them, but I wanted to find out for myself, so I still have those. He prescribed 50mg-100mg of demerol every 6 hours. I took 50mg (100 was WAY too much) every 4 hours (which in the long run is less that 100mg every 6hrs) for 19 days straight. I had withdrawal symptoms for 3 days after I took the last ones. It was awful. I feel better today. I still feel sick and sore. I can't tell yet if the surgery was successful since I'm still recovering. I should have went with the Percocet and Phenagren (for the vomiting) instead of the Demerol. You live and you learn.
But, you never know, you could find relief enough without removing the ovaries. Congrats again. I hear life after a hyst is hard at first. There's a great hysterectomy board here on DS which I would highly recommend.
