Lupron is very contraversial on this site. I would never do it, but it has helped some. You should really do your research on this drug before you do it. It can cause long term side effects. I'm not against it for everyone, but I do think you need to know all you can about it and then decide if you want to do it. I don't know anything about the other drugs, are they birth control?

I did Lupron and was on it for 2 years.....my docs didnt know how to use the drug properly because you are only supposed to take this shot for a maximum of 6 month to 12with add back in a LIFETIME....I have permenant hot flashes bone muscle and joint pain and if I knew what I know now when I was prescribed this drug I would have REFUSED to take this med....it did help my pain the first 6 months.....but as soon as i got off the Lupron the pain came back worse and it has permenantly disabled alot of women so I personally do NOT believe in ths drug and I also dont believe it should be able to be used for endo but alot of women on this site disagree with me and that is their right and choice but I have researched this drug alot and the bad stuff from this drug were alot more than the good stuff it did! Ultimately it is your choice. But I hope you really research the drug first in order to make your own decision! Good Luck and God Bless!

I just started Lupron Depot. I elected to do this treatment option with the advice and support from my OB. For me- it's the best plan right now. I was very nervous to start Lupron because of all the controversy. However, after researching and being on it now- it's my (personal) belief that you cannot know how you will react to the drug until you take it. The best advice I can give is to research the medication(s) and really, really talk out your questions, concerns, and options with your doctor. Don't let other person's experience on a medication effect your decision. Finally- trust your gut.

I should say that my plan is to do Lupron shots once a month for at least 6 months with add-back therapy. My first shot (which was no different, pain wise, than any other normal shot) was on Nov. 19th. I have headaches, hot flashes, quick to anger, mood swings, trouble concentrating, easily distracted (at times) and insomnia. All of this is manageable, especially compared to other fertility medications I've been on. The insomnia is the hardest side effect to deal with for me. Some days are harder than others but not nearly hard enough to stop this option.

I cannot give you much info on how Lupron treats my endo pain. I have stage 3 endo and I'm a rare one that doesn't feel how painful it is. My twinges and pulls are more annoying. It's rare that I have to take medicine for endo pain and usually one dose of Tylenol does the trick.

Hi, Lupron is a very personal decision. And i agree with dsmwifey ... you will never know how it will affect you until you take it. The research will scare you shitless but depending how much you are suffering it may be worth a roll of the dice. It was for me. I did it twice. First time I did a double dose for 3 months and it was wonderful. The next time it did nothing. Again do the research so you are aware of pros and cons then decide for YOU. Good luck.
