Hi this is my first post here; i hope maybe i have found the right place this time.

I am going to try Lupron Depot to stop my periods. I am so scared not only of the meds but that I am only putting off the inevitable. But I am so scared to have an hysterectomy.

What was the best and worst of being on meds that stop the periods. I am told the first month of the meds are pretty emotional and painful.

I really need support through this.

I am in the same position. I just had a lap 3 weeks ago and I am getting ready to get my first shot on friday. I am taking it for 3 months. I know it puts you in medical menopause.

i have been on lupron for 3mnths now. yes. the first month is a roller coaster of emotions. but for me, it got better. i still have my uncontrollable bouts of emotional psychoticness. but for the most part, i am happy with it. i rarely am in unbearable pain. i guess for me, the worst part is the night sweats & hot flashes. but, in comparison to the pain i will take the hot flashes. if you ever need a shoulder, i am here! hope all goes well. be optimistic. i swear it helps. :)

Oh boy, where to begin...Firstly, know what is right for you and your body. Be aware of all of the 'normal side effects' and the less common ones before getting yourself into this. I have just finished my treatment and unfortunetly, for me, it wasn't worth taking it. I took it for three months. And something you may want to think about as well, ******It takes just as long as you are on Lupron for the Lupron to get out of your system:******
The worst thing(s) about Lupron for me was; severe joint pain, spasms, hot flashes, irritability, pain, confusion and eye problems. There is much more if you would like to read any of my journal entries on here.
Honestly, the best thing is knowing that I will never be coaxed by any doctors to put that stuff in my system again. Because, I have been through it, I know that it didn't work for me. And it only made things worse.

I'm sorry if this is too negative. I know that for some women, Lupron does help them, because they do not get many side effects. However, it does effect different women differently. I hope that it helps you. And please, do lots of research to keep yourself informed.

Thank you for your responses. As of right now I am not sure what I am going to do. I was going to try the Lipron but insurance is denying the the meds. My dr. is going to appeal. Maybe it is a sign. I have prayed and prayed over what to do.
I Pray each of you find healing. I pray that soon there will be a revolutionary treatment for endo and fibroids. This has to be a better way to heal/cure this decease. I'll keep you informed about what happens and how things get better.
