Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I'm just wondering if Femera has worked for anyone for pain relief? I've been on it for 4 weeks now and have not noticed any relief. I've also started progesterone everyday for the last 2 weeks but am still in a lot of pain. My doc said the it could take a while for it to start working. Any advice or experiences with it would really be helpful. Thanks a lot!
I knew someone who took if for breast cancer, but she switched to a different med. I wanna say Tamoxifen, but I'm not sure.
I don't think it helped my endo, but it did give me massive bone and joint pain. Like my bones just HURT from the inside. The doctor prescribed me daily pain meds for the bone/joint pain, but then I was like wait a minute - I went from taking pain meds 1-2 days month to taking them everyday?!? It seemed way off to me so I stopped taking the Femara. If it was hurting my bones/joint so much I figured that was a way of my body saying STOP IT.
I think more people take Femara for breast cancer than endometriosis. When I took it for endo it was off label and "experimental."
Two of the big ones I had were nystagmus (basically my one eye shaking) and maxillary pain. The eye shaking caused severe vertigo, like even if I closed my eyes I still felt like I was spinning. The maxillary pain I actually thought was my teeth, so I went to dentist after dentist. They could find anything.
Then I talked to my GP and she said she thought it was heart related. I had hypotension, my pulse was high, and I just felt like cr@p overall. Femara has warning about hear problems on it, so yeah, would've been nice if my gyn had taken my chest pain seriously.
Also if your vision starts to go watch out. I went temporarily blind for a few months on Femara. Took about a year to get my vision back completely, which obviously sucked. It didn't go "black" but my vision was so blurred it was just blobs I saw. I couldn't even recognize my own sisters from 2 feet away, and I certainly couldn't drive like that.
Just take care, girl! And make sure your doctor keeps a good eye on you!
