I think I'm going to be having one soon...the doctor said that they can be painful, and then added, "especially for someone like you". I'm assuming he meant because of the endo. Has anyone ever had one? I'm honestly not too worried about the pain...I feel like I've put up with such bad pain before that nothing really scares me. I'm just curious.

I also might be having a SHG...anyone have insight into that? It's a sonohysterogram, it's basically where they fill your uterus full of saline and take an ultrasound at the same time.

I've done both... the HSG procedure itself didn't hurt- more like a pap. When they push the dye through, it felt like intesnse menstrual cramps- literally lasted like 2 minutes at the most. Nothing afterwards although I don't have endo.

The SHG was much easier for me for some reason- had no pain whatsoever.

I was supposed to have a sonohysterogram with my old gyn, but I left her before I had it. I had read up on it though and apparently the pain wasn't usually from the procedure itself, but afterwards with the saline coming out.

My new gyn was doing a HSG on someone while I was there. I could hear him explaining it to her through the walls. He injected a dye or something into her fallopian tubes. I didn't hear any screaming or swearing from the patient so I'll assume it wasn't too bad.

Hi, I had one too, wasn't the least painful for me. Just try to relax through the procedure and hope like hell it doesn't hurt. For a select few it does, but I have not heard of it linked to endo.

I also had my uterus filled with fluid, piece of cake.

The results on the other hand were hard to swallow. Endo buggered up my tubes so it was a very stressful day otherwise. Hugs, and hope it goes well.

I had a HSG years ago. Didn't hurt at all but afterward, I had sudden, strong cramps for a little while. Definitely not as bad as an endometrial biopsy, that was terrible.

I've had the sonohysterogram a few times. The first time they couldn't get in, and that was very painful. All the other times (different dr) they could and I only had slight cramping when they were filling the uterus up.

The embarrassing part for me was when you stand up, it all comes gushing out of you. I was also on my period both times they got in, and it was an awkward moment for the books. :-o
