Had my colonoscopy

Well, I had my colonoscopy this morning. Everything was completely normal! I know I should be happy and grateful. And I am. It probably is endo, but you don't often see endo on colonoscopies. I know all that. I just feel frustrated. When they find something, I feel like my pain is validated. When they don't, I feel like I shouldn't be in pain. Now, I just feel like it was a waste of time and energy. Just feeling a little down...

Hey HC...Just want to give hugs of support. You're feeling "normal". Any one of us understands the conflict you're feeling. We know that you're happy to have a "normal" colonoscopy. But we also understand that you were hoping for that "perceived PROOF" that your pain is real.

It's such a crying shame that we have been brow beaten into doubting ourselves, our bodies, our pain. Yes, it's been 20 years since diagnosis for me, but IT ALL REMAINS THE SAME. Doctors have GOD complexes and refuse to search further until they find the culprit. IMO the ones who actually are educated in this disease KNOW they don't want to lead the battle cry for us, so they DENY it's existence.

I know you feel that it's all futile. It's not--- because if the disease is thriving inside you, you must intervene. You can't do it alone. The GIs run you through the colonoscopy process like cattle to slaughter (or that's my experience) Boom! Done! You're fine. Go home. I have no good answers. We're screwed if we don't have good doctors. I don't.

I know how you feel! I went to the doctor sure I had another endometrioma, but my ultrasound showed nothing. I should have been happy but I was frustrated because I knew the cyclical pain was real. Don't think it was a complete waste of time and money though. They could have found something. At least you have the knowledge that everything was normal. For me I know I must have microscopic endometriosis, adhesions, or adenomyosis because I still have bad pain at times. Just because a test comes out normal and the doctor acts like youre fine doesn't mean that's the whole story...even laps can miss endo. So sorry you are feeling down...I've been there too. Hang in there...try some good herbal teas like raspberry, dandelion, moon cycle, or chamomile. Or consider acupuncture. These things help for me. Hugs.

Aww, thanks for all the encouraging words. I need them. I think I'm still feeling a little wacky from both the prep and anesthesia and that is also playing into my emotions. There wasn't a lot of sleep happening last night! I just feel like I was kind of silly for going to a gi doctor about it and going through the embarrassment of discussing everything, and then just hearing that everything looks great! Now I have to tell my family, who will be very happy and supportive, but it just makes me feel a little stupid. They don't know endo like we do. :)

Anyways, it means a lot to hear this from people who have been there. Thanks!

I get you completely. Only those who have endo know what's its really like. You want some test to find and show that your pain is real and when things come back normal, its just a huge blow to our reality of pain. Dont feel stupid. I admire you for doing it. Ive been told to go to a gi doctor but Ive been too scared. So you do give me strength if I do end up going. Hang in there sweets. Were here for you.
