Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I want to start by saying that I know that some women have had great experiences with Mirena. this is really just to share mine for anybody who may be curious.

-these photos were only taken about 3 weeks apart and nothing has changed about my lifestyle/eating/exercise habits. The only thing that changed was taking out the mirena.
I had the mirena put in 5 months ago and was really hopeful about it. A few months later I ended up in absolutely mireable pain. My skin also broke out like I was 14 again, I was bloated, moody, angry, depressed and just felt like I was always 'foggy' and couldn't think straight. the pain landed me in the er, seeing a bunch of doctors including GI, 2 obgyns, primary dr, and endocrinologist.
Once we ruled out all other alternatives, my obgyn decided to take out the mirena and thought that was the cause of the pain rather than the endo. I have to wait about a month to see if it helps the pain, but I at least am feeling like my normal self again. I am not waking up with new breakouts every morning and didn't realize how bloated i had really gotten. the foggyness and crazy moods lifted within a day and now i have the battle of weaning off the pain meds and hoping this pain disappears.
even if it doesnt help much with the pain and I do need another lap, I feel like it is a huge win that I am feeling like myself again. I didn't realize how much I really missed that person :)

if you are against it then just stick to your guns! My old dr was pushing lupron which totally drove me crazy. I wasn't against trying mirena, so I gave it a shot but it just totally didnt work for me and made my pain so much worse. I would be afraid to ditch the pill-but maybe its not such a bad idea.
