Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Same Here. I'm at 3.5 months and have an appt. later this week.
A six month course of treatment seems to be pretty standard, so if you want to stay on it, that shouldn't be a problem. From what I understand, the pain can return pretty quickly after stopping, and this scares the crap out of me, too. It hasn't all been pleasant, and it took about 8 weeks, but I actually feel pretty great right now! I've continued to have the tiniest bit of spotting (which is not at all surprising), so I had to get blood work and have a sono this Thursday. I'm a little worried about what he'll say, but I am hoping to stay on it for now. Good luck and keep us posted!
Bluemonday42 I'm really hoping that she lets me stay on a little longer. I get crampy around the end of the month when I'm going to get my shot and luckily I haven't spotted yet! Good luck with your lab work!!!!!!
Like you I'm worried sick that when I go off the shot my pain will come back full force and angry like it did after surgery and then what?
Like supersmish had said, I hope that you are allowed to continue if your comfortable doing so.. Please keep us updated!
I had to fill out a FMLA form with my doctor. I maxed out my time off this year and still have tons of doctor's appointments. If your workplace has some flexibilities that they can offer, by law they are supposed to offer them if you mention you have a medical condition.
This only works if you've been with the company for 1 year, and each employer is different. I scoped out my office and realized my direct boss was a prick so I talked to the head of the department instead about this. He was much more accomodating, but even he didn't know all the rules. Finally he brought in HR and they have sorted everything out.
You can ask for a flexible schedule (40 hrs on your own time, if the business can accomodate it - like if you don't work in a 9 to 5 doctor's office), or a reduced schedule (unpaid for the reduced part)...google the FMLA information to find out more.
I did not tell them I have endo, instead I told them that I have a "chronic serious health condition" and listed a few of the symptoms (pain, bowel problems, recurrent flare ups, etc.) so that they understood why I was asking for the time off.
Hope this helps, take some time to research it and scope it out with your workplace, but maybe this could help?
As far as the hip pain I was having some joint/bone pain with my second shot I started taking these natural plant based calcium tablets and had my 3rd shot 2 weeks ago and the joint/bone pain is non-existent now. I take a half a pill in the morning and one at night to spread out the absorption. I found a site that sells them rather cheaply if you'd like to check it out:

As with the hot flashes I've been taking Maca Root. I get mine in cap form from GNC. Maca is said to help naturally regulate your hormones. I have warm flashes maybe like 2 a day, but it happens after working out etc.
I hope things are going well for you! Many healing blessings!
