Feeling a little frustrated

I was diagnosed by my gyn with endo about 6 years ago. She put me on an IUD and I had that up until about sept 2015 I was having panic attacks (never had them before) and it was about time to have my IUD changed and had read up on it and that it can cause anxiety and panic attack increases especially when its time for a new one. So I had it removed for about a week and couldn't handle the pain had her put another one back in. The anxiety was so bad and was on various medications for it to reduce my panic attacks. Which made my moods, sex drive, and life hell. So finally Sept 2016 I had it removed again. I've been eating in an endo diet for about a year now and completely since the beginning of the year. I had my laparscopy this past oct 2016. I was told by the gyno that I saw when I switched insurance carriers that she refused to put in my medical history I had endo because I hadn't had the lap. Well now I have and I'm feeling like im crazy bc she barely saw anything in there but it was enough to biopsy and it was endometriosis. But the pain I have makes it feel like it is EVERYWHERE. I don't know what to do. I don't want to go back on birth control which is what the surgeon wants me to do because of the panic attacks all the hormones gave me but I can't handle all this pain anymore. I'm in tears when I get my period every month and I dread when it comes. I just joined DS today and was glad to see that there is an endo group here to share and not feel alone. Pain is at the top of the pain scale today and trying to keep from crying.

Hey there -
I know how it feels when a doctor tells you there's nothing wrong, or your extreme pain doesn't match what's going on physically. I remember thinking I was going crazy and I had no control over it. I am 41. now but I honestly felt this way for 17 years.
Please try to have faith that you will get the help you so deserve. Remember that you DO NOT deserve pain. It took me so so long to truly get this... I almost sometimes forget that my doctors are actually validating my illness and pain for a change...I still get butterflies each morning that I get ready for appointments.

Pain doesn't correlate with the number of lesions, so don't get put off by that. Consider going on pergesterone only, which prevents build up on endometrium and usually stops menstration. While it doesn't take the pain away totally, it helps! My body hates to bleed and it's one of the changes that has helped me deal. Also, consider seeing a pelvic pain specialist if your GYN isn't helping you enough with your pain. You have to be your own advocate because unfortunately too fee Dr.s really get endo and how horrible it truely is. Best of luck and thanks for sharing.

Just because your dr didn't see a lot of endo doesn't mean it is not there! There are so many places it can hide! There are a large number of Drs who are not very knowledgeable when it comes to endo, and it's very hard to deal with while living each day in pain. I had anxiety attacks with one of my birth control, but after trying a few I did find one that works for me. If you can get through the anxiety of finding the right one it will be worth it! It may not take away the endo implants, but it will stop feeding the existing implant, and deter new ones from growing. I hope you find the right dr to help you through your struggle! Good luck :)
