Exhausted after surgery

My second lap was two weeks ago today. I am feeling much better; I didn't take any meds today (not even Motrin) and I'm definitely uncomfortable but it's manageable. What isn't manageable is how freaking tired I am all the time! I can barely force myself out of bed in the morning, I find myself struggling not to fall asleep at my desk during the day, and I keep accidentally taking hour long naps after work and not feeling rested at all when I wake up. I didn't experience this at all with my first surgery. Any ideas on when I'll start to feel more awake? Right now, for example, I can barely keep my eyes open and I just napped for over an hour and a half. I get WHY I'm so sleepy...I just want to know when I won't be!

I'm not sure why you feel so sleepy????? How very irritating. I hope for you that this is the last sleepy leg of the journey and you will then feel better!! Have you called your doctor? IMHO I think anesthesia has more side effects then we know about. For about a month after my lap last year I would go through these periods were i just felt like crap. No real symptoms of anything just all of a sudden I would feel really under the weather and like crap for no reason and have to go lay down and take it easy.

I hope this wears off and you start to feel better soon!!! Sending healing sparkles!

I don't remember having that after my first surgery, and I"m only three days out from my second one...but so far I absolutely agree! I've been thinking the oxycodone is part of it, but who knows. It's still just like...NAP INCOMING IN 10....9....8.....

So, no wisdom, but best of luck!

I was so tired after all three of my surgeries...4-6 weeks after it started getting better.

Try taking a vitamin b complex and see if that helps. I take New Chapter Vitamin B complex.

I didn't feel well at all after my lap. I was very tired but couldn't really sleep like I wanted to. It's now been 4 weeks since surgery and I am still yawning constantly and exhausted, but I think some of the exhaustion is from working too much now that I am back. I hope you are able to get rested up and feeling more like yourself soon.

Could be related to nasal congestion. If your passages are inflamed, then the sleep won't be quality sleep, and you will want to sleep more.

Hang in there, I remember feeling bad for weeks after my 2nd lap. Maybe it just needs to work out of your system. Hugs. Hope they made some great progress.
