Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.

Foods that are estrogen rich are:
Soy, Flaxseeds, apples, alfalfa, barley, baker's yeast, beets, cherries, chickpeas, carrots, celery, cucumbers, dates, fennel, oats, olives and olive oil, papaya, peas, plums, pomegranates, potatoes, beans, rhubarb, rice, tomatoes, wheat and yams.
Many of these foods are very good for you and I personally do not avoid them all. Instead I do the best that I can to support my liver so that it can remove any excess estrogen. I avoid ALL toxic beauty products, cleaners and chemicals in food. I eat as raw and natural as possible. I avoid all processed and packaged foods and sugar. Giving up alcohol is huge because it puts great strain on your liver.
Hope that helped a bit =)
I am reading a book called "The Endometriosis Natural Treatment Program" by Valerie Ann Worwood and Julia Stonehouse. There are a couple paragraphs that pertain to this topic (at least so far as I've read, there may be more later) and I want to make sure I understand it correctly and see what you all think of it plus see if you think it's accurate.
"...Compounds known as lignans, which have an estrogenic effect, are found in high levels in flaxseed, broccoli, asparagus, carrots, and squash. Lower amounts are also present in nuts, berries, whole grains and various other oil-bearing seeds. Because lignans bind to estrogen receptors, albeit weakly, they prevent the estrogen produced by the body from binding to those receptors. Ironically, then, a small estrogenic effect from these foods results in an overall reduction in estrogen uptake. In addition, lignans inhibit the action of aromatase, an enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogen. If high levels of estrogen are associated with endometriosis, and lignans inhibit the effect of human estrogen and even synthetic xenoestrogens, lignans should be a useful component of the diet of a woman with endometriosis."
So if I understand this correctly, some foods that contain estrogen are not harmful to us and are even beneficial, right? Knowing which foods those are seems a bit confusing, but I guess it's the ones that contain lignans, right? Let me know what you all think and if you think it's accurate.
