I was just wondering what the deal is and if its endo related. For those who don't know, I had a mass growing next to my uterus the size of a golf ball. They removed it about a year and a half ago now. I had cancer and this mass had changed in size (when they originally found it, it was the size of a nickle) so my docs wanted it out immediately. When he removed it my mass was B-9 thankfully, but this mass was acting as a magnet for endo. This mass had endo growing on top of endo and was still growing more endo.

After the removal of the lump the endo appears to have spread since that magnet is no longer there to attract it and since then I've noticed that I have all kinds of other sensitivities that I've never had before the lump was removed. I have developed an allergy to gluten, certain dairy products, all types of fish and seafood, and eggs.

I get all itchy and sneezie when I so much as look at a tree now. I work for a company that sells beauty products. I had to do a floor-set in the beauty product room today and my sensitivity to that room is getting worse. My sinus cavity is on fire right now. It hurts to breath!!! The sad part is no one sprayed any of the perfumes or put on any lotions etc while I was in it. I was in there for an hour or 2 doing a few displays, rearranging a few items and putting some new ones out. Now like I said it hurts to breath my sinus cavity is so irritated. I have used my netti pot, took a steamy shower and put on the vaporizer and it feels a bit better, but good heavens...I used to be able to stay in that room with 50 different people spraying 50 different samples of our perfume all day, now I can't even stand any residual effects of it. :(

I noticed all these things appearing/getting worse after that lump was removed and the endo started to spread. I'm wondering if it triggered and auto-immune response? Has this happened to anyone else?

Wow, I'm really sorry that this has been happening to you! I don't know if I can relate, but I do have some intolerance. Like for instance, certain smells I CANNOT stand. It gets really really strong, really quick. Like some foods, I cannot stand the smell. It makes my gag reflexes work and nearly want to puke every time. At one point in time I thought I was pregnant because sensitivity to certain smells really bothered me and still do. I don't know if that's what you mean, but that's my problem. :(

I have had allergies that have gotten significantly worse season by season. This spring I had 2 weeks of really bad allergies, almost lost my voice, was horse etc. I know that sometimes people just develop late adult onset allergies so I'm not sure if it's endo related or not. I also use a neti pot, take alegra, and use a RX nasal spray. I had gone on the endo diet and when I went back to test and ate wheat/gluten, I got really itchy. I gave it all up again and was completely gluten free for over a year and accidently got glutened, made me really sick so now I know for sure I have a sensitivity to that. I also think I'm allergic to alcohol. I'm not a big drinker, gave up red wine due to massive headaches and switched to white but the last 2x I have had a glass, I get major diahreah from it ( probably the sufates in the wine ). I feel I can't win either. I don't really mind never having a drink again, but yes, I have noticed I have developed many more allergic reactions to things. I take the pill continual for my endo and don't have any pain issues since the pill for me, seems to keep my endo totally quiet.

When I was younger I had NO ALLERGIES or sensitivities until I started puberty. Then I developed extremely sensitive skin, and can't even use Windex without gloves (all chemicals, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, and most soaps). The last few years I have been developing allergies to meds that never bothered me before as well as an intolerance to foods and seasonal allergies.

@ AmericanGirl88-I have also developed a sensitivity to smells as well. Only if they are really strong to begin with like bleach, or your wearing enough perfume that I can still smell you 20 min after you leave or things that just smell gross like garbage, skunk things like that. I've noticed I can't tolerate them and have to move away immediately

@shoesandshopping-Thats also another thing I can't tolerate, Alcohol. I was never a big drinker either, not even in college, but my friend bought some mixed drinks over the other day and I had 1/2 a glass and it literally knocked me out on the floor for 2 days. I just felt so tired, exhausted and lethargic for 2 days straight. I couldn't believe it. That stuff worked better then my sleeping pill. lol

@ash1987-I don't think I"m allergic to any chemicals, but I do feel woozie after using really strong ones like bleach and try to avoid it at all costs.

Crazy, I wonder if endo really does have something to do with it?

Gluten and oats here. And most recently memory foam and bandaid adhesive. Oh and all oxidizing hair colors which sucks because I'm a stylist.

I honestly feel my window of foods or things I can drink just keeps getting smaller and smaller. I am not a big drinker at all and it always seems to make me feel tired and sick but the last 2 times I had white wine, and it was only 1 glass, it ripped right thru me and I had water diahreah. I read that organic wine might be worth a shot since it doesn't have sulfates but honestly, it's almost too much work, I doubt restaurants carry organic white wine so I guess I'll be sticking to water or lemonaid from now on ; \

The theories surrounding Endo all agree that it has some connection with the Immune system. This means that women with Endo are far more likely to also have some type of immunity problems. Women with Endo tend to have worse spring/fall allergies.

I was never allergic to cats till recently. My spring/fall allergies are horrible too. Some women might even notice their periods are more painful at the same time they are suffering allergies.

Another connection seen is that many women with Endo also have thryoid problems. My Endo doc said mine was enlarged and needed to be seen but I can't afford to see another specialist right now.

Yes, they are related and part of the immune response. It seems that each can trigger the other. Allergies can trigger endo and the other. But its like which came first the chicken or the egg and nobody knows for sure. I was put on a couple of prescriptions for my allergies and I will be interested to see if my endo improve.

@perseveres. I have Hashimito's which is a thyroid condition as well as celiac. Both are also linked together in the spectrum of autoimmune. However the Hashimoto's is linked to gluten as well. It's like double whammy. The endo must be related. Especially when it's recommended that you eat gluten free with endo. Ugh.

Thats interesting about the thyroid. I have always had a slightly enlarged thyroid. The only time I've ever had a thyroid problem was when I was doing radiation for my cancer treatment and I developed Hypothyroidism. I was on meds for it for a year, but I just stopped taking them for what ever reason and haven't had a problem since. I do get tested every 6 months and everything still looks good, but my thyroid is still on the large side
