I read that too, but I didn't really focus on it too much since I'm not taking it myself. If you go to the official FDA website there is a summary of Depo-Provera, which includes safety information. You might have to click around a bit to find it, but it should be there.

I talked to theDR today and she said that the main concern is my bones so I am going for a bone scan

My girlfriend was on it forever and her doc pulled her off. Time to find a better BC, sorry. That stuff is very good too....

I go for my dexa scan next Thursday. We will see then what the plan will be hopefully I am fine and can stay on my depo

I have thought about the IUD if I have to discontinue the depo. I am 22 I am not sexually active but regardless I do not want kids in the next 5 years. This is something I am going to discuss with my doctor

My friend recently had to go off of it too. She finally found something that is helping I just sent her an email asking her what it was and I'll let you know. She went through a hard time finding a replacement so I'm hoping what i find out will help you too.

i ended up having a hysterectomy and was fortunate to have one miracle little girl who just turned 14 on 10/9. we were hoping a hysterctomy would get rid of my endo....but as many others have discovered that wasn't the case. I will reply with what she is using as soon as i find out.

Thank you so much amcarroll! I just hope I can stay on the depo. I am 22 and I still hold on to the chance of having children someday. If not it isn't the end of the world I am very open to adoption. My mom and cousin both had hysterectomies in their late 20's. it did help both of them but I am far from that option. At this time in my life.

Don't give up on kids quite yet. I am 35 and the doc is very optimistic that we can still have a baby. May cost a little more (IVF), but as my sister says, all kids are expensive. You'll probably spend $10 k on them in the first year of birth, what's an extra $10k?

I was on it before I was really diagnosed with endo, I was a teenager. I took it for 3 years,I started gaining a lot of weight, and then i felt like I was actually loosing my mind on a daily basis. When I went in they asked how everything was going, I told them I was fat and crazy. They asked how long I'd been on the depo and when I told them they said "Oh yeah, you need to get of that ASAP!". Hmmm...seems like they should've told me that or kept track! But honestly, it did work well for quite some time.

i just started taking depo. i started on the pill for a week and then just yesterday was given the shot. i still got my period while on it but it is nowhere near what it was before. as far as a time limit, i would aske your dr. they might be able to tell you different options if you think you have been on it too long.
