Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.

TMI warning... :) So for my endo treatments I've done 6 months of the lupron (one month shots) and to make sure my endo didn't grow back about a month later they put me on a low dose progestin pill. So far I like it and its kept the pain at bay and having way more good days then bad.
I take the pill all the way through with no breaks. I tried doing breaks when I first was on it but the endo pain seemed to come back in a bad way so my doc said that it was o.k. to take continuously with no break. However for the past 4 months without fail when I start my new pack 3-5 pills in I get a bad period. The pain is manageable etc, but the bleeding is horrendous and out of control and it seems like every period it gets worse. I'm bleeding now and this is going on my 6th day (my periods usually last 4 max). The bleeding is very heavy and full of clots and this time around it seems to be gushing out of me. For the past 2 days I'thought I was done but then I get some cramping again and woosh here comes another stream of blood. I'm going through pads like no ones business and of course because of the holidays I can't call my doc. :(
I was thinking that maybe with taking the pill straight through has caused some excess buildup? and was thinking that a D & C could help? Have any of you had this done? Did it help with bad periods or endo? Was it a hard procedure?
Thanks so much ladies!!

Its never happened to me but stranger things gave happened. As we ger older our cycles change. You shoukdnt be getting a period if you if you are skipping the last row of pills in oacknand starting a new pack. Maybe they are not working for you anymore. If you are going through a pad an hour you need to go to the er. I hope you can reach your doc soon.

A d&c could be helpful for a very quick fix, and it might help with heavy bleeding but I doubt it does much for endo. I say that because endo is more problematic because it is outside of the uterus. I am no doctor but it seems like it may help with a symptom but not the cause...I guess that is maybe a better way to look at it.

I agree with Vans...I think it could be a symptom fix (heavy bleeding) but it's not going to do anything for endo since endo is outside of the uterus. It also might not be endo causing your heavy bleeding. I've been bleeding for almost the weeks now...went to the Dr yesterday...She believes the pain I'm having is probably endo related but feels the bleeding is something else. (I've had about four "episodes" over the last three weeks as you described above...gushing, soaking a pad an hour with large cots...That usually is laying around 4 hours!)...I feel anemic but my blood clotting was fine. She's having me take progesterone (which some how didn't make it to the pharmacy...and the dr office had already closed for Xmas eve...so I won't get it until tomorrow!!) & I'm getting a sono on Jan 6.
