Cysts, frustrating doctors, and more!

I went for a follow-up ultrasound/appt today to check on some cysts. Bad news: Now I have 2 3-cm cysts on one ovary. I'm concerned about torsion. My doctor wasn't overly concerned, but this contradicts what she has said in the past. Any insight here?

I'm upset and hurt by my doctor. Apparently I'm a super-ovulator and ovulate even when I'm on the pill. This causes cysts. She told me that I should get pregnant now (she knows I'm single)! I would love to get pregnant, but, uh...I need a husband first! Then she was chastising me about my dating life, why I'm not dating anyone or finding anyone, etc. In a mean, bully kind of way. :( She was also mad at me for stopping a med, which was causing all these side effects. She just made me feel crappy. :( Thanks for listening!

Hey Hotchocolate ...

I hate this ... I have had my doctor tell me every time I have had a lap that I shouldn't wait any longer AND i was single too! How annoying. I felt the same, I wanted to say, um HELLO do you have someone in mind I should be making a baby with.

Don't let it get you down. You could have met someone and struggled years ago, or you could meet someone in 5 years and have no problem getting pregnant. She really doesn't know, which is why she is saying these things to you.

What your doctor should have said is, live your life so you are happy and hopefully your health will follow.

Hope you are feeling a bit better about it!

When I had my original lap, I had a 10cm cyst on my ovary, then 2 years later had 2 cysts on the same ovary - one was 13cm and one was 9cm. The doctor was worried abotu torsion, but I made like an ostrich and buried my head in the sand. Went through IVF for several years - My partner and I had been trying for a while - got pregnant and really it WAS the best thing for the endo - I have never felt better than when I was pregnant. Not that that's a reason to have a child, but it did help. It also apparently helped my endo overall because my adhesions aren't as bad (6 years later) my uterus has better mobility and my cysts are now 3 cm instead of 13. I know this doesn't help much - but honestly I wouldn't worry about torsion with 3 cm cysts.

Thank you. Yeah, I know my doctor doesn't really know me and know my situation and is strictly looking at my life from a medical stand point. This is also not the first time her words have been harsh. It's always hurtful to hear them, though. I have been living my life with what God has given me, and that is good enough for me!

Suzy, thanks for the reassurance. I was concerned because in the past she said that she starts getting concerned at 4 cm, and together these make 6 cm on one ovary, but she often contradicts herself. Yours were huge! I don't know how you lived with that! I feel awful with small cysts...I can't imagine functioning with a 10 cm one.!
