I also have a recommendation for a colonoscopy, following my MRI. My dr. wants me to do both of these before the laporoscopy. I feel like I'm going to go broke before this is all formally diagnosed, let alone resolved! : |

I have had 2 colonoscopies, it did not show anything, but I still have endo on my bowels. It is extremely rare that endo will show up on that type of test because it doesn't normally invade all the way through the bowel wall. So even if your colonoscopy doesn't come back with any findings, your endo could still be affecting your bowels. The good part about getting one is that it can rule out other issues.

I was supposed to get a colonoscopy since I lost so many family members to colon cancer. I was told I had to be careful choosing my GI doctor because of the one ovary adhered to my bowel. Something about scar tissue weakening the intestinal wall.

I haven't had one yet because of this. I was going to go to the doctor that the majority of family goes to, but he said he didn't think he could do it on me.

I was going to look into the digital one, but I'm not really in a hurry about it.

Hotchocolate - I just had a colonoscopy two weeks ago for similar reasons. During a lap the doc found endo growing on the outside of my colon. RE wanted me to get a colonoscopy to make sure it hadn't grown through my colon wall.

I'll warn you - the preparation the two days before the colonoscopy is worse than the actual procedure :)

I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and they found nothing. Laproscopy was the only way they found out anything for me.

Ever since my endo started I have had painful and bloody bowel movements. For years they couldn't tell me why and told me to eat more fiber. I had a colonoscopy and some other test where they looked at my muscles. Everything came back normal. Finally years later they told me it was an anal fissure. I was prescribed nitro paste and that really helped. But it is happening again. I wonder if my endo is still to blame though. The nitro paste helped by bringing more blood supply to the an us to let it heal. I wwonder if the endo is in the way
Idk. But I think it is worth it to have a colonoscopy done. Because then you know it isn't something else. Plus endo can do a lot of damage to your colon and maybe they won't see anything but maybe they will. The prep sucks but the peace of mind after is totally worth it! :) Good luck!

I had a colonoscopy before I was diagnosed with endo. My pain was high up..in my gallbladder area...and I was having ibs symptoms....so I had it done to check for issues for those things. I don't think it will show endo unless the endo has infiltrated your intestines in which case I think you'd be having some really severe symptoms and fever. I don't think having a colonoscopy is ever for no reason....It's always good to look in there for issues...and it's really not a terrible procedure. The prep is the same bowel prep I had to do for laps.

I had a colonoscopy because I was having painful bm's. They could only get the scope in 22cm. Endometriosis had penetrated trough my colon and rectum wall. I am recovering from a resection now.
