Hey Y'all...

I'm one year @ pain management through my local hospital. Unfortunately, I've had little, if any success. My LONG history of pelvic/vaginal/rectal pain, along with severe spine/joint pain has been documented ad nauseum in previous posts.

My question is...Has anyone tried the new Zohydro (which is hydrocodone without tylenol) ?

My doctor tells me that it is uber expensive, but effective treatment for my type of pain. (It only hurts when I'm conscious)

I took Norco (Loratab with less Tylenol) after surgery. 7.5 mg. I worked well for me. A few times I had to take two. But I have no complaints.

Thanks, Michelle. Since I will be in pain management forever, he's concerned about the acet damage to my liver. Thus, the possibility of Zohydro. I'm trying Oxycodone IR, but I don't like it. It hits fast and disipates quickly, whereas I need an ER med to maintain serum levels.

I too have chronic pain; spondyliosis in my neck, cysts on my spine, fibro pain and then recent pelvic pain due to i.c. and endometriosis. I just had a hysterectomy and bladder dystention to relieve the last two, but I will probably always need long term pain management.

I hate being on hydrocodone for long because my body tolerates it after using it for a few months and it cause some slight depression. So, I'm not a good one to really like the drug, but for long term pain management I have used a butrans pain patch which was great while I was recovering from serious car crash and then anti inflammatories in addition and muscle relaxant.

It seems like there should be more pain remedies with so many people with chronic pain.
In the past I have combined natural remedies also like a turmeric combo at people's pharmacy, omega 3's, capsaicin, pain rubs like biofreeze. I hope you find a good solution and if it works for you, please let us know!!

Thanks. I hope each of you can find whatever brings you a bit of relief and inner peace.

I see my PM doctor this next Wednesday. We'll have a lengthy discussion, I'm sure.

It's nearly impossible, with not only the mal-absorption issues, BUT ALSO the astronomical costs of pain meds these days. Can you believe that a prescription for one month can range into the upper hundreds of dollars? WHO CAN AFFORD THAT? I can't because I no longer have prescription insurance.

It's a BAD situation for people who face severe pain daily (but only when I breathe)
