Antibacterial Junkies Here?

So I just read this interesting article (I'll include the link below) about how antibacterial soaps, cleaners, medicines etc can all effect the good bacteria in our bodies and when that gets out of wack the bodies immune system goes crazy and inflammation starts such as allergies, chronic pain etc. I wonder if it relates to endo at all? I've never been a huge fan of antibac stufts but right before I got really sick I worked a lot of hours and my job is big on antibac everything, soap, lotion, gel, sanitizer, cleaning products etc. So now I wonder if that is a contributor? Interesting read none the less.

Some believe there may be an autoimmune component to endo.

And autoimmune usually means "overactive immune system" where it is attacking things as invaders...that aren't invaders.

So I do believe in this. And often some experts will say that it is our "too clean" way of living that has given rise to a lot of allergies, autoimmune issues.
So I think anything is possible.

I don't use antibacterial soaps...but I am sort of addicted to wiping my shopping cart handle (and my hands) down at the grocery store.

Maybe I will stop wiping my hands with it :)

Look into xenoestrogens and phytoestrogens on line searches. you would be amazed at the things we eat and use daily that contribute to adding foreign estrogens to our bodies that drive endo! I have started eating more fish, organic meat/dairy, and now use vinegar in my downy ball for softener. I avoid parabens as what we put on our skin enters our body 100%!!!!! We are already plagued by the estrogen our body produces so adding more is just adding to the problem. It requires reading labels and becoming a more informed consumer, but if it will help I'm all for it! Best of luck!
