Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Hi there girls! Need some support and/or input.
I began seeing my 3rd gyno about 3 weeks ago for some more opinions as to what is going on with all this pain. Was quite put off by most of his remarks including the "you have post-traumatic stress/syndrome. Ever thought of seeing a counceler? " WOW! Anyway, he set me up with a PT, which I embrace this idea. I have much respect for PTs, they have given me quality of life in the past and I have read that PT for pelvic pain is very helpful. He also sets me up with a back specialist. ( ??? ) I keep telling these doctors I don't have a back problem, why do they keep treating me for back pain? I "bit" on the idea once before from a pain specialist and let him give me lumbar epidural cortisone injection. I thought if this works, then we are on to something, I hoped and prayed and NOTHING. My GP and I couldn't figure out why my PD thought it was my back, the pelvic pain came WAY before the back pain. The little amount of back pain I do have is DUE to pelvic pain. ( I'm sure most of you know what I am talking about ) OK,OK!! FINE! I'll go to a back specialist, just once and for all. Maybe this new gyno will listen to this doctor rather than his patient who is feeling all the pain. (Even after I told him I know what back pain feels like, I've been in a motorcycle accident over 7 years ago!!! )
Well, I'm sure you guessed by now it did NOT go well!!! She took X-rays and found nothing wrong! ( SURPRISE!! ) She went into saying how I'm "cottling " (sp?) myself and that is why I have back pain! (???) She wouldn't even listen to me. I must have told her 3 times that I don't have a back problem, I have endo and possible IC or pelvic floor myalgia ( sp?) ( at least, that is what gyno # 3 is testing me for tomorrow ) THEN she went into the "post-traumatic stress/syndrome" thing and about seeing a shrink! That's when I lost it! I told her this pain is NOT in my head! I will be seeking out a endo specialist that knows what is REALLY going on! And that I WILL NOT give in to the doctors around here about having a hysterectomy! I DO NOT trust anyone anymore! I am so SICK and tired of all of this! She ( back "specialist' ) is going as far as ordering a TENS unit for my back! I asked her if this unit will help my pelvic pain. She said, " Mmmmmm... maybe?" Then why the hell am I here!!!! She gave me a Rx for Gabapentin that I told her I already have but she insisted. WHATEVER!! Then she told me she is going to tell my PT what kind of exercises she wants me to do. ( So I guess she is going to make my PT into a "puppet" )....
She also told me that Dr AJ ( gyno # 3 ) isn't going to prescribe me narcotics. WHAT??? That is NOT why I went to see him!!!! I want to know WHY I have this f***ing pain!!!! All HE wants to do for the endo is give me a f***ing hysterectomy, put me on Lupron again, or Depo Provera!!!!! ( which I am CERTAIN will make me sick, but what do I know! Right? I have only had that experience in the past with progestrin before!!!!!!!!!! )
My DH and I are so angry right now! I just don't know what to do at this point. I'm going to do most of what she says and see where it leads me. But during this time, I will contact the endo specialist I found and see what he has to say!
Thank you all for letting me vent! I still feel like crying but that could mostly be from ALL THE PAIN I FEEL ALL THE TIME!!!

not meaning to bug, but have you had a venography? by an interventional radiologist?
im also currently on the who searching doc/ appointment thing and the whole 'convincing' and having to justify myself to docs... terrible!
its difficult (more than!0 when they dont listen and just send you away with 'their' plan of drugs etc which you just know wont work or further more... just wanting to know what's wrong.
its just ridiculous they are sending you to a 'back specialist' have you tried saying that its at inside your back area... as in the cul de sac.. and not your spine?! i had this exact struggle. THEY JUST DONT LISTEN! sent me for a damn lumbar spine CT.... i only went because i though he initially did listen and was doing CT to show inside back area! .. nope... only showed spine and he said 'there is nothing wrong with your back'! well dah! i knew that!!! i told you that!!!

Thanks to the drug company commercials and all their depression hurts. It can cause physical pain blah blah propaganda most drs often push our pain on depression which is not the case for women with endo. Of course your depressed you hurt bad and no dr takes your seriously. have you asked for references from other people you know on doctors they see?
Check the site I posted. Post on the endo board and see if anyone is located in your area that sees a good dr. Also you can also get feedback from a specialist on the womens health forum. Im so sorry your not having good luck with your drs. There are good ones out there. I have seen 9 obgyns before finding a caring one who knows and understands besides seeing dr sinervo as well.
