Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I read this post the other day, but after thinking about it, something hit me. A few years ago I became allergic to melons. Last summer, a few more fruits were added to the list. This past winter I had the lap and endo diagnosis. And since last summer, I found myself allergic to more and more fruits. I get wicked itchy, a little swelling, sometimes hives...and it sucks. I love fruit but am now limited to just a few kinds of fresh fruit.
I researched all this greatly and found something called OAS, Oral Allergy Syndrome which fits me to a T.
I've had lots of pelvic pain and cramping for many years, but once it started to get worse (around last spring/summer), so did my fruit allergies. So after I read this post of yours and started thinking about it, I had to post it!
I haven't noticed any allergy issues getting worse around my period, but I do have lots of different allergies. It's just that this fruit thing kind of got worse along side the endo issues.
I read somewhere in my endo research that endo could be immune related. So the thought that allergies and endo are connected may not be too far-fetched.
For my other allergies (pollen, smoke, mold, dust, cats, etc.) I take either generic Zyrtec (which makes me insanely sleepy) or generic Allegra, which just became OTC. Loratadine stopped working for me years ago.
Take care :)
