You should definitely see a psychiatrist before thinking about any meds to take. He can help you figure that out. Good luck! I suffer from depression as well, and the endo obviously exacerbates it, but I have been on antidepressants for 13 years now. I began taking them at 15 years old and they changed my life!

Being on Lupron made me need antidepressants because i was out of my mind through all the shots! Amitriptyline was recommended for all the mood swings and help me sleep. Im diagnosed Bi-polar and manic depressive and instead of being on a million meds, ive just been taking the one amitriptyline every night and it helps alot :-) I had depression before the Lupron. I went from crying for no reason a few times a day to actually feeling like a sane person lol. And im on a pretty low dose :-)

My mom was on 8 antidepressants at one time, one of which she was on a 900mg dose and they only ever tested 800mg on adult monkeys! She was bad off, said that Seroquil didnt help but she was still on it. Ive heard good things about Wellbutrin. I was on Paxil once and it made me VERY paranoid and gave me AWFUL nightmares so i advise against that one lol

But, when you do talk to your doc, and I cant stress this enough, dont tell them you feel like taking your life or even hint that you do because they are inclined by law to keep you under watch for 72hrs and having to stay at a hospital for 72hrs is no fun! They do a cavity search and everything! At least thats how they are here.

I agree with everyone, I would def talk to my doc about my options, he will know whats best for you. I think that there is something in most anti depressants that helps combat pain. I'm on a low dose of Fluoxitine. I was on it when I first started the lupron, but still have some sore days. I went off the anti depressant when I was on my 3rd lupron shot and I noticed that the pain came back a bit. I didn't need the Fluoxitine for depression, but doing an experiment I put myself back on them and the pain has subsided even more. So I guess thats a plus. I hope you find something that works for you. Its so hard to be in pain all the time and having to rearrange your life to deal with this on top of. Good Luck.

My honest opinion is I'd stay away from antidepressants. I'm not a fan of too many medications but like the other ladies said, talk to someone first and then make a decision that you feel is best for you. Best of luck!
