You shouldn't. I actually bled very little with my first and it was a huge improvement over pre-op as I had been bleeding every day. My second I bled more but I think that had more to do with what I had done and complications...I had a uterine fibroid removed and had other uterine issues...Even with that though it was no slaughtered pig, no floodgates, etc. Totally manageable and the least of my concerns really.

My best suggestion is that when you think of or have a concern or qyestion, try to ask yourself "Does the answer to my question change my need for the surgery?" If the answer is no, then the outcome or answer to your question does not matter because it will be whatever it is for you. Being more accepting of how you feel, accepting your circumstances, and accepting that you can not always control or know the outcome of things helps you to better flow with life and not get to caught up in the details.

Yes, I agree. I just want to know what to expect. I had an extremely bloody surgery last year and someone thank god told me to stock up on maxi pads. Like over night ones. So I guess I wanted to know if it were more maxi pads or panty liners that I would need. I just want to be as prepared as possible. I bought gas-x last night but was thinking of anything else I might need. So bleeding is something I hate to do (and haven't for several months so I don't have any supplies really) but I want to be prepared.

If you're having a hysteroscopy in addition to the lap you can expect to bleed enough to need a pad, but you shouldn't be soaking a maxi by any means. If it's just a lap you can probably get away with just a liner. After my lap with hysteroscopy I had the equivalent of a light period for a few days (and mine are normally extremely heavy so take "light" with a grain of salt).

My last surgery the bleeding lasted for a month is it just a few days? I can deal with that- but after not bleeding for several months I'm sorta spoiled haha and I'm enjoying it! I also get very bad anxiety when I bleed as I'm sure a lot of others here do too. It's not associated with good thoughts and I'm always worried it'll never stop. I should really be medicated lol did they just do a hysteroscopy or remove stuff too (I forgot what you said?)

I've never bled after a lap. If anything you may have spotting but there shouldn't be a period. Also, i would suggest letting your period come a week or two before your lap to give your insides more time to heal. The first period after a lap can be more painful than normal.

They told me not to get a period at all- we're trying to stop them all together? I'm asking I have no idea haha I haven't had a period in months

I don't remember bleeding after my lap and D&C. If I did, I think it was just brown spotting.

Now I bleed like hell after my hysteroscopy with the MyoSure tool. But that was different from my lap.

I bled for over a month with my 1st lap. It was only enough for a panty liner. BUT! I would like to point out that I had 2 large cysts removed and I think this triggered my cycle and 2 this is NOT normal. I never followed up because I was in between doctors after my surgery but when I brought this up at my last surgery I found out that I should not have bled that long. You really should only bleed a little for about a week or so I was told.
This surgery, I bled for a day and spotted for a day. :-)

Myosure is for when you have fibroids which is totally unrelated. Unless your doctor suspects that you have them don't even worry about it.

The MyoSure is usually used for fibroids, but in my case they did it with my uterine polyps instead of a D&C. It's (in theory) supposed to cause less scar tissue.

I had an operative hysteroscopy. They inflate your uterus with fluid and then put a thin camera in there so they can look around and see if anything is out of the ordinary. In my case I had polyps so they removed them.

I wouldn't think you'd bleed that much after a diagnostic hysteroscopy. I bled a lot because of the polyps that removed.

Thanks! Yeah he thinks I have polyps but I doubt it I've had many ultrasounds and nothing has ever showed up plus I've literally been bleeding since I've been 3! So who knows? But does a hysteroscopy hurt? That sounds kind of scary- he said that he usually does it in his office I was like HELL no knock me out haha

I never bled after my first two laps...the third one I had slight spotting for a couple hours. And with my 4th where a had a hysteroscopy and my right ovary removed I spotted for maybe 8 hours. The hysteroscopy doesn't hurt....I didn't even know I'd had it done until I read it on my paper work!

Girl, I had the same reaction when my old gyn told me they would do that in the office! She told me it would hurt and I was like, so you're telling me dilating my cervix and shoving a camera up there isn't going to hurt? Then she said I could take one of the pain pills that I use for my period.

I got the hell out of there. No way was I doing BYOA (Bring Your Own Anesthesia).

I honestly don't know if it would hurt in an office setting, but I'm done with painful procedures at this point. I wanna be knocked out!
