Welcome to the board. Ovulation pain is the worst! I knew something was wrong when I had appendicitis pain about a yr ago...near my ovaries and not my appendix!

Sounds like you've been through a lot and now have at least one answer: endo.

Thanks ladies. It's nice to be able to vent and know others understand. My husband is trying to be supportive, but he thought I would be all better after the lap. Wouldn't that be nice? I'm also discouraged because the dr. Also found a huge fibroid that is too large to remove except by a hysterectomy. I was really hoping to avoid that option. I won't be having more kids, it too, us 17 years to have our little girl. But for some reason, the thought of a hysterectomy makes me feel old and sad!

Is this your first cycle post-lap? Sometimes ovulation & menstruation that first time afterwards is very painful because your body is not fully healed. Not that any pain is good I will keep my fingers crossed that it's a healing pain and you'll feel better next time around.

I'm really sorry to hear about the hysterectomy recommendation - I would highly suggest getting a second opinion, preferably someone who removes a lot of endo/fibroids laparoscopically. When I woke up from my lap my surgeon said I would need a hysterectomy soon for both my endo & fibroid and I am only 26. I got two more opinions and neither of the other two recommended hysterectomy! The doctor I am seeing now is very confident he can remove it without a hysterectomy. Obviously this isn't always the case and it's true yours could require it...but I say it's worth getting another opinion or two to set your mind at ease about whether you really have to do it or not. Thank you. Do you know how big the fibroid is? Mine pretty much is as big as my uterus. He is a pretty conservative doctor but he said it would be too risky to try to remove it with a lap. It will shrink with menopause he said, but he also feels I'm 4-5 years away from that!

I don't know how big mine is - not as big as yours though, mine more had to do with location making it hard to remove in addition to a lot of endo in the same area. I have heard of doctors using medication to shrink them before removal but the meds used for it are pretty nasty (Lupron being the main one, which basically puts you in temporary menopause).

The doctor I am seeing now is an endo specialist but deals with fibroids a lot too due to his expertise in minimally invasive surgery. Even so there definitely are cases where the only option is hysterectomy, just be sure you're 100% informed and ok with the decision first as a lot of women regret it and that is the last thing you want! When my first surgeon (who did my lap) said hysterectomy I went to hystersisters which is what led me to my second and third opinions. Even if they had both said hysterectomy it would have made me more comfortable with that choice, knowing I really needed it.
