I had viral meningitis and encephalitis just over 2 years ago, at 21, i soon after got diagnosed with neuralgia (in case this is the problem).
My encephalitis started off with the severe joint pains, but I am writing to see if anyone else has the problem that after their illness they get pains that feels like its in their bones/joints?
Mine isn't a constant pain, more of a dull ache that is very uncomfortable, it moves from the joints in my toes to my shoulders (more often in my elbow and wrist)
Does anyone else have this too? Is it a after-effect or just my bones being old before their time?

Dull aches in joints and bones, yes, is one of the main things I've complained about rather consistently. I've gone to the doctor so much to complain about issues, my docs think I'm depressed or obsessively worried, which could obviously be true to some degree, but I've always responded to what my body is telling me, not the other way around. It's a constant worry, and it's difficult for my wife to stay present with my concerns when she hears from me so often about this, then that, then something else.
I am in the process of trying to start a dialog with someone around the country who is more Encephalitis-centric, because general neurologist sometimes throw their arms up and say, encephalitis is complicated, so we're not quite sure.
I'll post again if I find any valuable resources.
