Empty Nests Support Group
Empty nest syndrome is a general feeling of depression and loneliness that parents/other guardian relatives feel when one or more of their children leave home. Empty nest syndrome has become more prevalent in modern times, as the extended family is becoming less common than in past generations, and the elderly are left living by themselves.
I am new here. Glad to find this forum. I have been raising my 3 children on my own for 30 years since my son was born. He has 2 elder sisters. My son is 29 this year and is still in school . My daughters are 31 and one is living on her own in the same town with me, her twin sister is in another state.
I myself is introvert so that does not help. There are days that I feel so empty. I can cry anytime. I try to stay busy but the loneliness is still there. At my age 59, it is not easy to find a male friend with the same interest and pace
☹️ To go out with.
Yes, that is life. We raise our children to let them fly away when they are grown. If they come back, we know we did it right?? If they don't, we know at least we have tried our best and no regret.
BUT... I can't stop crying... my home is empty... I miss her so much already and can't see a way for this to stop... I can't imagine waking up, for the rest of my life, without her here... How do I go on? I look at my dog and grieve that he won't see her for at least 6 months and even then it will be fleeting... her toothbrush is gone! Her room is filled but so empty... how did it go past so fast?
I miss her so much and can't fathom a life without her here... I have never felt such grief.
I know it can seem silly to others... and I have no-one that I can reach out to but it is so real to me.
