When my oldest left for college, the tears started as soon as we pulled out of the parking lot. I cried for six days straight! I have never really gotten over the end of our family all being together. However, the youngest was still here and my husband had work in town and we had horses. We went riding frequently and even went camping with the horses. It helped so much to have something to do to ease the pain. But then...the economy tanked.
Now, almost eight years later, my husband has no work in this state, my youngest is leaving in two months and we are in bankruptcy and moving out of our home. In spite of everything else, the worst pain of all is knowing that my job of Mom is now over. They say there is nothing harder than losing a child, and you think that means death, which of course, is worse. But when they leave home, it is another form of loss that we find ourselves grieving over. I have never experienced anything as painful! Fortunately, I have a husband that understands, but he can't be with me. I have no family, either. It's easy to say re-invent yourself, but not that easy to do!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I want to know what happened to the loving children I raised!
I see the change coming, this chapter of my life ending and it terrifies me! My husband worries because he doesn't think it should effect me so much, that we should be looking forward to other things now. Well, mothering has always been the most meaningful part of my . I have cherished every moment and I am very close to my kids. I was not ready for it to be over. From what I am reading here, I guess no one ever is.
It is probably the worst time to be menopausal! I truly just need to talk about it and know I am not going crazy!
p.s. yes....perimenopause/menopause...WTF?! Mother Nature sure throws a lot at us women! I have been waking up at least once almost every night. Is anyone else experiencing that??? Sara (I'm 51 and still very regular)
