Well, I went in for my appt today with about 2 hrs sleep and the morning started off badly. My 6yr old who has ADHD went into a fit all morning and by the time I got to my appt, all I did was cry and couldn't even get my thoughts straight. I kept talking and talking, I think my nerves were on end and I just couldn't settle myself down. He set it up for next week.He re-explained it to me and I am still very scared to do it. I will post next week. I am an emotional wreck already.
I'm so sorry you are having to deal with all that. I encourage you to find and use your best soothing strategies to get ready and do the EMDR. It really does help tons. For myself, I am having a hard time believing how much I get out of the sessions. Now when I think about my trauma, my reactions are greatly diminished. It just isn't logical to me, so I can give you guarantees or warm you or prepare you. I can just say...it's worth settling down and just doing it. If you can swing it, set up having a reward afterward. A trip to the park or a massage or an hour sipping a special coffee drink at a local cafe.
I agree with Betty 100%!!! Keep your head up!! Yes, its hard but so worth it in the long run!! I 2 knows what it feels like to be a emotional wreck!!!! It is not fun! I went though that the last 2 weeks!! Just know we r here if you need us and you are not alone!!
