Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Support Group
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a group of rare genetic disorders caused by a defect in collagen synthesis. Depending on the individual mutation, the severity of the disease can vary from mild to life-threatening. Common symptoms are unstable, flexible joints with a tendency to dislocate and subluxate, and elastic, fragile, soft skin that easily forms welts and scars.
Also, if small intestine bacterial overgrowth hasn't been ruled out, that is a treatable condition.
A slow gut causes chronic constipation and belly pain as well as bacterial overgrowths. Antibiotics take care of the overgrowth, but only a low fiber/residue diet will do for gastroparesis. Some people need a liquid diet to ease symptoms.
I have GP and changing my diet has cut down on belly pain.
When I cheat, I pay.

1. is to prevent constipation. there is slow motility, delayed passage, throughout my whole digestive tract, which tends then to constipation, which can tend to overgrowth of germs and fermentation of food. To prevent constipation I have to make sure to take a LOT of fluids, and I have to use stool softeners - Colace is what I use.
2. I have been using a supplement of a natural enzyme, Diamine Oxidase, which has helped the mast cell issues caused by histamines in certain foods. This has cut down inflammation.
3. I started the fodmap diet :
