I feel terribly for you. I am in Canada so I don't know how the system works in the US. Are you on Medicaid? And if so, what does it cover? I understand that the Obama government has implemented health insurance for most Americans.

Have you tried Xolair or Methotrexate?

i do feel for you - its enough having the cancer and trearment without eczema as well. all i can suggest is topical steroid cream and loads of prescribed moisturiser - nothing scented. i'm a bit the same because my eczema was fairly quiet then i had to have an emergency operation for a burst vein in my arm so as well as trying to deal with an arm that feels like lead, my eczema has flared again. i do scratch and bleed but always shower to keep my skin clean and put topical steroid and dermol moisturiser on. i also take antihystermines to alleviate the itching.

I hear your pain!! I am a 45 year old woman who has also had excema all my life. I'm sorry to hear that your Oncologist won't prescribe anything to help your skin. Try taking antihistamines for the itching and try not to scratch!! It's hard enough to have cancer without having excema added to the mix. Good luck...my prayers and big giant hugs are going out to you! !!

try cool showers and moisturise as much as possible. This will reduce the severity of flareups. And take anti histamines. Also file your fingernails as short as possible and only wear cotton. keep layers on and don't wear too much clothing. wash you bed sheets often and try not to stress. it's stressful i know! but getting too stressed will make it worse. Try doing other things to take your mind off it and just keep on moisturising. Never take hot showers/baths, this will strip the skin of oils. If it gets super dry you can use things like vaseline (petroleum jelly). Good luck and all the best with your treatment! Sorry to hear you have cancer.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry; I've had severe eczema since I was an infant, all over my body, and the horrid unpredictable flare ups are bad enough on their own- I can't even imagine what it's like to deal with that and cancer, as well- especially since it limits what you can do to treat your skin.

Because I've dealt with this too, I've tried so many things- a lot of them were not prescription or steroid but they did help ease the extreme discomfort.

thank you everyone. No, i do not qualify for medicaid V. Also no to distance, i do not think i have tried either of those, I will check them out. . I go Friday to see my Oncologist. I was told that since i do not get the test study drug every week anymore, i may be able to get a script for a steroid . We will see what happens. It is still flared up pretty bad. Seems i have a lot more bad days, than good.

Ask your Oncologist if he can prescribe "Cyclocort cream". It is a corticosteroid and it work wonders for eczema...the only side effect that I can warn you about is that over time it does thin the skin...making the skin break more easily. They also DON'T advise that you use it on your face...other than those little things...it works great!! One thing you may have encountered is people who say "just don't scratch" which is easy enough to say, but not as easy to do. When I was in labor having my daughter almost 25 years ago, the nurses were so surprised that I was so stressed having her that I was digging my nails into my face (because of the stress and the sweat),and one of the nurses had to call extra nurses in to help restrain me from ripping my face off!!
