In the interest of having an accurate ultrasound today, I gave not eaten anything since 10pm last night (as per my specific instructions from the clinic). It took tying the doors of my pantry cabinet together and duct taping my fridge and freezer. It's terrible that I have to resort to that. I don't know whether or not I should employ those tactics every night. But they did work last night and this is a real problem for me.

You did it!! I am sorry it was such a struggle, but take a moment to honor the fact that you were able to follow the orders to not eat in order to have an accurate ultrasound! You put your medical care as a priority and you made it! I’ve had to throw my food in the trash just so I wouldn’t eat it. Sometimes I’d dig it out of the trash. :/ these eating disorders aren’t logical and the steps we take are chaotic, but don’t feel bad for having to resort to what you did. You made your goal for your health!

Thank you... so do I!

And by the way, I've hidden food in locked enclosures before, only to either find the key and unlock it or actually break the enclosure to get at the food. So I know exactly what you're talking about re digging food out of the trash. Man does it feel awful, but I appreciate your understanding!

Thank you for your openness and willingness to share that! I totally understand. I read an eating disorder book in which the author (Schaefer I believe) shared similar experiences. It helps to not feel so alone!

Yay! Being able to do it for one night means that it is possible. I understand the need to duct tape the fridge. I went through a phase where I stopped buying food altogether. Everytime I wanted to eat something I would have to go out to buy it preferably in single portions. I also have dug food out of the trash....I learned that what I need to do is make sure when i throw it out, it is out of the container and really mixed in with the trash. It is embarrassing, but so nice to know that I am not the only one.
