You need to take care of YOU right now, plain and simple. Whatever it is that you feel like is right for you, do it. You sound like you are in a fragile state of mind and your poor little soul needs to be nourished - if that means being "committed" than give yourself up to that process and give yourself over to others to be healed and taken care of. You are in no state to be taking care of others - your mother needs to get her own help and support system right now. You are NOT being selfish by putting your own needs on the forefront and getting help!!
Please let us know how things go and keep us updated on how you are doing.....

Well done in talking honestly with the psychiatrist about your problems. Being committed sounds bad but getting treatment and help sounds good. If you do go into care I hope it will help you. I know its difficult when your mother had to find out but she probably knows your have problems to some extent and you cant keep her from getting the help you need.
Looking after your friend sounds as though it was a hellish ordeal. Good for you for looking after her, keeping her awake and calling poison control. You are NOT stupid. You are caring and doing your very best even when youre not appreciated. Obviously your friend needs help too but from someone else - professional help. In her current state your friend could drag you down into very dangerous territory. You need help and you deserve help. Please allow the professionals to help you.

It wasn't until I read kathywonders post that I realized that you were talking about your friend and NOT your mother (hence my comment about your mother needing help of her own) that was engaging in that difficult behaviour.
Sorry, eshaw - it was late at night after working a 14 hour shift that I replied.
Again, please let us know how you are doing!!!

However, I am very grateful I was with my friend that night, poison control was quite certain she wouldn't have woken up. If I hadn't been worried about her, its possible I wouldn't have been able to listen to her and both of us wouldn't have woken up with what I'd taken myself. FYI if you're ever concerned of an opiate overdose, do NOT let that person go to sleep, that's when they stop breathing, and within a second can die. If you can't get them to wake up or get with it call 911. Lesson learned.
Anyhow, I just heard back from my doctor about last Friday's e-mail. She is a great doctor. Told me she knows how important trust is in situations like this, and that she would not surprise me but be as open and honest as possible. She said that she's sure they too are just really worried about me and she said she'll try to contact them before she sees me next week. She said she thinks I am really on the edge. If she knew about this past weekend she'd prob know I've slipped a bit over the edge. LOL Sorry not funny.
Thanks again for your hugs and encouragement. I'm still terrified of going into lock up or being tube fed again. I have a week to try to normalize my eating/stomach/digestion. I've already arranged a safe and happy place for my daughter to be taken care of if they do recommend inpatient care. I hope she'll be ok. Anyhow, i'll do my best to accept the help they recommend.
Im glad you get on with your doctor and your both want an open trusting relationship. Well done on finding a place for your daughter to live if you have to go into hospital. Hopefully theres a lot more to hospital treatment than feeing tubes and incarceration. I hope youll be getting support and encouragement whatever treatment path you take!
